What is it about Lesbigays and movies? Everyone likes movies, but we seem to REALLY like them. Is it something about style and festivity? Or is it the desire to find our identity among the most charismatic people who, at least on screen, always seem to have it together? Share your thoughts.

Movies are a form of escapism. For a little while we can suspend disbelief and watch people who are, quite literally larger than life, living out their lives for us up there on the big screen.

We watch movies for different reasons. Some inspire us to be better people. The movie version of the Broadway musical RENT inspired me to take my herbalism studies further so that perhaps I can help ease suffering via a natural means. Some give us a thrill, like horror movies. They give us an adrenaline rush. And some, like "Dude, Where's My Car?" or "Kung Pow" are purely meant to waste a couple hours :)
Others like "Jet Li's Hero" are like moving works of art. It's all a very subjective matter of taste in my oppinion.

Personally I don't think that it has anything to do with orientation. Every straight person I know loves movies, too. When my father and I had problems relating when I was in my early 20's, the one thing we could always talk about was what movies we had seen recently :-) Kinda like guys and baseball, I guess.

Just my :2cents:

I enjoy movies cause its something to do if my internet connection is down or I just don't feel like going online.
Movies have always been in my life and will always continue to be.

Some movies have inspired me in ways that makes me a better person or helps me understand things better.

I used to watch Horror as a teen cause in a way, it made me feel better about evil bullies in school lol Just picture thats one of the bullies thats being hacked up to death in an very horrible way lol
I would NEVER harm anyone in real life lol but that was how I felt better since I didn't like to fight or be mean in person, so I would imagine when I watched scary movies....
I no longer watch Horror Movies unless its VERY good or I feel like it cause I know horror... i know how they do this and that so its not scary at all to me anymore.

Now I love Romance, Comedy and Drama movies :-) More fun lol
Sometimes you can learn things about yourself from those movies, especially if the main character is a lot like yourself......

I have seen a few movies where its about a Girl who falls in love with another girl.... even if she already had a bf or husband.... I like these cause it helps me deal with my own coming out. The main character doesn't know how to come out at first... yet she continues to want to see that girl she falls in love... finally she decides she has to come out to someone!!
And we see charcter tell people and how those people act... are they digusted? are they "oh thats nice" ? are they fine with it? In a way, you could figure out how to come out or how to deal with your feelings.... what they are clearly telling you is follow your heart, don't be afraid. :-)

Sounds like someone's seen "Kissing Jessica Stein" ;)

The one thing I didn't like about that movie is that it made bisexuality look like something you can turn on and off like a faucet. Or like something you just experiement with and then discard if it doesn't fit.

LOL Nope, never seen "Kissing Jessica Stein", I heard about it but never seen it yet. I don't think I will cause I heard a lot of people hated how it ended :-(

The ones I have seen were:
"The True adventures of 2 girls in love" (Lword fans might like it. "Tina" is in it)
"Imagine Me & You" (Most recently)
"Saving Face"
The one I saw last night was "Tipping the Velvet" :-) (oooooh.... never watching this again alone lol)

I don't call myself "Louisebrookslover" for nothing. Watching her makes me not only yearn for her sexually, but also makes a part of me want to be her. Makes me want to be that sexy, that desirable, that ephemeral as she dances across the silver screen in a grainy, 80 year old print, more alive and real and in the moment than anyone I've ever seen before in my life.

Btw, Louise Brooks was a silent film star, and probably the closest thing to Helen of Troy that has ever been photographed.

Yeah, i really wasn't a big fan of "Kissing Jessica Stein"... it had its moments but the ending killed it.

My favorite coming out movie (gay, not bi sorry) is "In & Out".

The song scene was fun but what I liked was how many little things it nailed.

Like in the begining, everyone's talking about Lucy Diamond's plan to destroy Australia. She and Scud walk into a room and in the foreground is a globe with a big X on Australia.

Ya, remember the scene where shes mad cause Amy "didn't want her" and she was pounding the buttons on this rocket looking machine, Scud comes in... askes what shes doing.. she says "Australia's toss" he askes her why... she said "cause I hate thier attitude!!" and he makes her come away and sit down.

:-) I thought it was a touching scene cause he cared about her and just wanted her to be in love... even if it meant giving up bad things cause "being bad isn't fun anymore."

Definitely agreeing with Jrz & Tasha: D.E.B.S. is an amazing and funny movie.

It's not quite a "coming out" movie because it doesn't have a big scene over that ...it instead just goes with "screw it, this feel Right"

Like Jrz said, there are a lot of little cute things in the background. My fav: one of the girls is named Lucy Diamond. Her license plate is N Da Sky (...Lucy in the sky [with] diamonds) ...and it only took me til the 3rd watching to pick it up.

Everyone go see this movie :)

I also love movies, im more into independant films, but i also love a good ol action, and horror.
i rented 2 today, i just finished watching Y Tu Mama Tammbien, a subtitled movie, it was really good, two friends, go on a road trip with one of there couzins ex wife. it has a really good story line, and some half hearted sex scenes. even a brief MMF threesome, the two male friends kiss, didnt expect that but it was really good. alot of reading, but i like subtited movies.
the second i havnt watched yet, Diary OF Ellen Rimbauer, the prequil to Stephan King's Rose Red. hope its good! well thats my story!
