Somebody on a posting elsewhere on the board said that there is talk that Drew did indeed die and that the site is for sale.

Can anyone verify if both pieces of information are correct or if that is just speculation?

I've spoken with Drew's family and he did indeed pass away. His brother is working on finding new owners for the sites Drew owned and operated. It's indeed true.

I was in discussions to work for and with Drew to moderate this forum to remove cancer's like you from it and get it back in shape. Suddenly he stopped responding to e-mails and PM's. I was able to track down Drew's sister in-law, who forwarded my e-mail to her husband who is Drew's brother Barry. They confirmed he passed. They didn't volunteer any more information other than confirming this. I don't need to prove anything to you, nor do I gain anything from spreading misinformation. Why would it matter what he passed from or me knowing the details or not ? I guess you were hoping he had AIDS, so you could make fun of him and gloat like you did about Charlie Sheen ? You're a sick fuck. You only believe what you want to, and substitute your own bullshit when things don't suit you. Right before you berate people and call them "diseased". For that , I owe DREW a huge THANK YOU! When I heard he had passed.......I was BUMMED! I mean....think about it.....how long did he run this site.....and for what? I don't think it was for the $$$$.....cause anytime he tried to come up with a money making idea most of the members balked. So, for him to do what he did.....for as long as he did it....can we all bow our heads........say a little prayer/thought to ourselves or whomever......and think of the guy in a kind way?

I kind of felt that this had to be the case----I didn't think that he would just stop paying attention to it--even if we might have been a pain in the ass for him---it did seem like a labor of love kind of thing for him.

I am bummed that Drew did die. I hope his death did not come in the way I have a feeling it did happen. There had been word going around at one point that he was dealing with depression and was going through a particularly rough bout of that disease and hope that if that rumor was true---the disease did not lead him to an end that so many depressive people meet, the taking of their own lives.

In any case, the site certainly needs moderation and someone to "take out the garbage" here (as witnessed by Pole_smokers insistence on lying and his inability to play well with others ever). Here is another site owned and ran by Drew. The custodian of record link offers plain enough information if anyone desired to look him up. I have no reason to doubt NjBiGuy01 did not do that. He does seem to have a valid interest in this site, for whatever reason/s. It would seem logical if he desired to buy the site, he would come to know who owned, operated it.

I disagreed with the idea of Drew generating revenue with this site specifically. I had understood in reading from him at different times, he ran Three Pillows and may have been involved in one or two other sites which generated revenue. My reason for disagreeing with him generating revenue here was that he had created this site with what I understood as something more altruistic than making money. I did not mind if he linked to a site/other sites which made him money here. But I felt this site ought to remain free to keep its vision.

That noted, it was the only real disagreement I had with Drew. He spoke with me once regarding some uncouth behavior on my part. I was put on the time out bench for a day. There was no trouble after that. Drew even let me act as a tester for the last site update, and offered one month free as a paid fan club member. It is from this I saw there was no advantages, at least for myself, to paying for membership. Think Drew understood this and my disagreeing over the site generating revenue. He never said as much but this was his way of saying a lot, letting you be to be.

And it is that vision he encapsulated here which garners my respect for him as a friend. No, I have no illusions. He did not let us have free and paid members to comply to my whims. i know a lot better. If he had desired, the site would be all for pay. He desired pleasing others, yes. Someone had told him this site had to earn money. So, he balanced and offered some features for paying members but let free members remain free members. I can understand the adversity in following that balance he faced.

I'm just someone passing through this void we call the world. All I keep are the memories, love, light. The rest will fade and wither away at any given. Drew offered us a glimpse of Light. Think of these as being similar to mafioso kind of trusts. It is allowed in Japan for many smaller business to combine, much like we in America use conglomerates. These businesses once combined become a family operated as one unit with an inner board. These families create trusts which are different from how America defines trusts, they are not monopolies. One has to be careful in regards of thinking of such families of companies. Not a lawyer or business person here. Just knew what I had read up on at the time. And AOL eventually bought Time Warner / Warner Brothers, from what I gather over the past few years it all comes back under the Sony family in some way/s.

You're correct though, it does not require much beyond a desire to know, to look things up. This was how I learned HTML well enough to have at one time gotten certified to code HTML 4. Now, I may eventually get re-certified via W3Schools to code HTML 5. But if so it will be later on. I only get the certification for personal reasons. "Ha! I thought I could. I did! Ha!" :) At present I piddle with bash scripting, c, a little Perl, a little Lisp, a bit of that, some of this. I also do a limited bit of writing, nothing professional. I agree, everyone here is kind of in a limbo. Something I'd thought of is having the site use micro-finance invoicing for a monthly subscription. Think I suggested something like 5,000 members at $0.25 a month to you. That kind of financing would cover the site costs, maybe offer a token payment to moderators, article writers, content creators. Though, any variables as far as user number and monthly charge could be used. What I did was just quick and dirty maths.

The big problem lies in attracting a greater number. I have trouble seeing it as there generally are fewer bisexual people. Leaving site as open format regarding sexuality, like Drew has it, could draw more. I say could because the site needs something to attract users. As it is there's not any quality content, and content for lack of better terms is King/Queen. That leads to a catch 22. You need content to attract users, but money to buy content. Both are needed to keep it balanced and functional.

Much as I dislike the notion of money, I see it keeps things going presently. I see too the site would need it, if only to sustain itself. That said, excess money collected could go into a fund to help --- the hungry, animals, veterans, education, medical research, safe sex aids/education, user decided cause. This possibly could set the site up as a non-profit. Not too sure or keen on all that myself, know others that are though. But I'm just gabbing here, it might be nice to let the users own the site, as a trust. Gabbing only though, not offering to hold the bag, or to be the one 'in charge'. Sorry, that's not me. I think if we created a PayPal, Dolla or other micro finance tip jar we may have continual funding to sustain the site. At present though, the users would need to raise what the cost is of the site being sold, if the family chooses that.

I started as well as participated with people here in threads and even met some nice people here in person ! I don't think at any point I fought with anyone here in any capacity. Despite being in touch with his brother, sister in law and Drew, ass-Pole insists on questioning the veracity of my posts about Drew being dead ! What would I gain from fabricating something like this anyway ? Seriously.

I certainly resent (like many of us) that this "super member" found it necessary to litter the forum with his useless and disgusting poles, finds it necessary to bump his own threads (in his mind, to punish us I'm sure) and his constant reaction to anyone who questions him is him calling them "diseased trolls". He acts like he owns the forum and unless and until a new moderator kicks him out, my guess is it will likely continue.

If you look at his post counts, they are through the roof. He posted 8 times as many posts as me, in one year vs eight years...Talk about dominating the forum ! If you look at what those posts are, 99% are trash that he argues that "there are people want to see these pictures and discuss these subjects". A look at the type and number of responses would show you that's hardly true.

I don't know much about what a domain might be worth but the numbers we discussed are way out of my range, especially for a site that does not generate any outright revenue. I imagine with banners, click through's and perhaps a small membership fee it might make some money. He does have plans to attempt a sale through Sedo soon, which is a website sales site .

Perfection isn't expected in email or online fora, and I rarely play spelling or grammar cop. Occasionally, someone will submit a long post with no capitalization, punctuation or paragraph breaks. This can turn a 'hot' post into an annoying, unreadable blob of incoherent gibberish. My rule-of-thumb is: as long as it's reasonably easy to discern what someone is trying to get across, I'm fine with it. If it's too aggravating to try to decipher, I ignore it and go on.
