Many of us made the switch at the beginning of the year to a new site we had found---called My Secret Choice---well in the past few days----when I try to go to it---I get the following message pop up on a blank white page:
Error. Page cannot be displayed. Please contact your service provider for more details. (7)
I have a feeling----that getting this message is probably not a good one----for you computer savy folks---what do you think this means??
My thought is----that site is a dead duck-----am I correct in that assessment or not??
Thanks

ThanksThat usually means the site is not available and the domain is for sale, or they did something wrong and are being blocked

I think it means that the site owner didn't pay their web hosting bill or didn't renew their domain registration. The info on the site probably still exists, but the site won't be accessible until the payment issues are resolved.

The conspiracy theorist in me has to ask : What if the whole thing was a ruse designed to attract the disenfranchised chat members from this site in order to collect email addresses, personal info and pics and sell them to third parties? I noticed a dramatic spike from adult sites and porn sites since I joined MSC. If those sites aren't getting hits from members of the MSC site, perhaps the paychecks stopped coming from the third party sites and the MSC site had to shut down. LOL

I would not be surprised if that's what they did as people who run porn/sex sites including this one make more money from ads than from hosting their actual site.

Cuttin---I had chatted with the owner of the site and his girlfriend a few times and they were very nice people, with "stories" about their lives and such that were genuine---I think that it is just a case--the site got too much for them---they were overwhelmed and no surprise that there was not a bill paid to keep things going-----even though they did not say it directly-----the couple were "working folks" and they were living pretty tight on their budgets----like most people---they might have had a bit of extra money under normal circumstances---but all it would have taken for them to be in a bind was something in life that hit them "out of the blue."
I think that they definitely started that site on "a shoestring"---so---no-----I don't believe that it was some sort of "scam site."
If this site has had more unwanted solicitations and such from outside sources---it is because this site really is just simply "running on autopilot" and there is no one to "defend the gates" anymore.
We have no one to make sure that this site doesn't get hit with spam and what any longer.
It is a wonder that this site is not one big bug and virus plagued place----with all kinds of crazy adds and such popping up and that it is so bad---that no one could come here anymore lest your computer get hacked and such.

.
...sounds like it to me...in the last few years I've seen several sites that I've been on for years die...there seemed to be a common cause...the sites would be real active...a lot of posters with a lot of different ideas...then a little 'click' would get where they thought it was 'their' private site...they discouraged other view points to the point of driving the other potters off...a site can't survive without a stead influx of new people & new ideas...when new people stopped coming the sites died...

Just a quick note to say the new site is up again. Got to pay your bills on time!
