I hate complaining, especially when I don't have a solution, but the amount of spam creeping up on us is kind of annoying to me.
Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Since I'm a writer, I'm drawn to the blogs here, but we're getting a lot that's just stolen from other sites, or is just a long advertisement for another site.
Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam?
There's been a number of fake accounts set up recently, to the point where if the member is female, I'm skeptical.
Spam spam spam spam...
Luckily we've only gotten a little bit of it on the forum so far, but I'm afraid it's just a matter of time.
Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Without any mods, is there anything we can do?

Not really, aside from simply avoiding the site. Not saying everyone should/ought to abandon the site.
I am saying there seems to be few choices in dealing with the spam on the site. Using the ignore feature
seems a bit of a moot application.

Using the ignore feature seems a bit of a moot application.
I have only one problem with using the ignore feature: I only have one individual in my "Bozo Box" but each time they post, I get a dialog that they have posted, but I won't see it because they are in my "Burn File". Well, when that comes up, it makes me curious as to what they may have said, and is it worth reading or not. Seems to me that if you place someone in the ignore feature, that should totally remove them from your view, never to be seen, unless someone replies to them and quotes what they are replying to.

I think I know what you are talking about when you say we have some SPAMMING happening here, Melody. I got a friend request by someone recently and even though I granted it---I do think that this person is engaging in spamming the site.
It does seem that along with trolls having free reign---surprisingly we have been spared that to a relative degree----the site is also more likely to be spammed as well since we obviously have no one "watching the store" here.
I really do not understand what is up with the fact that the owners of the site have ZERO interest in it----they are continuing to spend whatever it costs to keep this thing on a server or if its their own server---to pay the freight for the bandwidth it takes to keep the site going.
Man---I sure as hell wished that the budget would allow me to buy this site or start another one!!

Just ignore it. That's what I do.
Even when a supposedly "new" person joins, and they pretend to be a bisexual woman but you can easily tell it's a spammer.

You can't really ignore a person by adding them to the ignore list. Just gotta be mature and just don't pay them any attention. I have a feeling that I know who you're talking about. I hate it when people are plugging BiCupid.com. I tried that site and it's a bullshit site. Membershit is like a $1/day. Just a waste of time on that site and I definitely don't recommend it to anyone.

I much agree with you in that regard. Besides that you get people posting whatever the Bozo says as well. That's why I said it seems fairly a moot point to use the feature. If a site user ignores another, the other user's posts ought not even appear, even if repeated by other users. Unfortunately, that is not how it works on this site.
Suppose that might be feature worthy of paying for. Somehow, I doubt such an improvement is offered to paying members. I may be incorrect in thinking in such manner. If so I apologize. Not a paying member here for various reasons. One of the main reasons lies in not seeing value to being a paid member.
By the by, love your signature. Often find myself in such a position. http://www.bisexual.com/forum//images/smilies/wink2013.gif http://www.bisexual.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.png

Yes, the spam is a problem...but the sausage, bacon, and tomato are *quite* nice! Particularly scrambled up with some eggs...hmmm, and mushrooms! And I suggest whole wheat or rye toast with that. And of course, some deep dark roasty coffee made from freshly ground beans.
And then, of course, there's the spam!

I'm not entirely sure what kinds of sausages I had (not by name, other than white sausage and black sausage)...could have been Lorne, or not. But there were very few sausages that weren't *quite* good. First B&B we stayed at served what I thought of as a proper fry up: fried egg, bacon, sausage, white pudding, black pudding, tomato, mushrooms, and toast (never had a fried slice that I can recall...sounds like an interesting experience *smile*). I don't recall tatty scones anywhere, dammit! I feel cheated! Alright, it's on the list for our next trip...right along with Red Pop and...was it Ern-Bru?

Tis a religious question, in my opinion, why the best-tasting food is worst for you. According to my beliefs, the best tasting foods are *not* the worst for you...and the medical establishment keeps changing their minds about what is healthy. Back in the 1980's, doctors went from "the incredible edible egg" to "eggs are evil cholesterol bombs" and back...sheesh. The fact is that *anything* can be healthy if eaten in moderation, and anything can be harmful if taken out of proportion. I do my best to eat what my body tells me to eat...and I do my best to ignore my mind when it tells me I want stuff I know will make me miserable. That little recipe has me eating eggs for breakfast about 4 days a week (though not in a full-blown fry up, lol)...and steel-cut oats the other days. And generally no Spam. *smile*
Enjoy the rest of your excuse to eat for two! I hope you don't pay overly (or at all, really). Happy to be at fault for you *smile*.

yum yum...
Is ok tho... 1ce a month for me fry up... last Sunday in month tho did miss last month's.. will not b having a second this month 2 compensate tho... white pud for brekkie? Unusual nowadays.. fried bread? Unless it's french toast, is not really for me... wen I first left home it wos a staple cos wen money ran short it wos cheap and made a change from boiled egg and bread soldiers... tho still have that wiv the kids some mornings.. Lou is huge fan... or poached egg on toast.
Have put the word out btw... an on shopping board on fridge is the word Spam in bold... must renew me aquaintance next time we have fry up.... Kate went green... she is a chopped pork person... tho not in fritters..
But I don't eat wot my body tells me... I may eat wen it tells me but I don't eat ver often just cos I fancy it... and yep, I do agree all things in moderation wich is wy the chippie is a once a month thing... and fry up and choccie a rarity... stodgy food often tastes luffly but 2 much is lethal..but always mashed tatties wiv knob of butter.. only once a week, but wivout the knob of butter they are 'orrible.. as a kid I used to eat mash, beans and spam... now ther is a thought:impleased... ta Annika... u r a gem. :love87:Comfort food is yummie indeed..

Apologies, Melody, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but Fran and Annika's discussion about food, brings back a distant memory that may be amusing to some.
My great-grandmother (my grandmother's mom) lived to 102. She and my grandfather (her son in law) were like oil and water; they never liked each other. While less verbal about his dislike of his mother in law, than she, he nonetheless harbored no love for her.
Now the food part: "Big Granny" had a diet that most dieticians would lose sleep over! She fried EVERYTHING, eggs, pork, beef, potatoes, even pies...everything was friend in bacon grease, which she hoarded like it was gold! She smoked and chewed tobacco, too. She could spit chewing tobacco as accurately as a pistol shot and every animal in the neighborhood knew to stay our of her range!
I won't go into the mean things she did to ensure my grandfather knew how she disliked him................
I was 9, in 1949, when Big Granny died. At her funeral, I was sitting next to my Granddad as we listened to the eulogy.
One relative, a wannabe preacher, was going on and on about Big Granny's stellar attributes...which everyone there knew was mostly bullshit.
My mom, was crying her eyes out........she'd always been BG's pet. I think my dad went to sleep!
Bored to death and disgusted at the comments being made, Granddad leaned over and whispered in my ear, "I'm just sitting here wondering.......how long do you think that old bat would have lived, if she'd eaten right?"

That is funny and it is something--it seems that people in the past were "built of sterner stuff" than we are today in that they had their shots of bourbon, moonshine, vodka gin or other favorite libation every day, smoked cigarettes, pipes or cigars, ate "bad food" like you said and they lived to a "ripe old age" as did your granny, continuing to totally work their asses off till almost the day they checked out.
In many cases, we do seem to burn out much faster than "the old timers" used to do. Of course--it could have to do with all the nasty shit that we are exposed to from the chemical soup we all live in, constant exposure to electrical fields, "non-ionizing radiation," too many antibiotics and other things fed to our livestock, too much sugar, carbs and preservatives in the food, GMOs in our crops and god knows what else.
It is funny what your granddad said---I think that she did pretty damn good for not "living right!"

Love me some sausage, bacon, and tomato. I can live with spam. But I prefer life without it.
