I am always intrigued by the to and fro interchange or dance between people on the verge of getting intimate. I've read about mirroring another where you create comfort and rapport by simply mimicking their gestures and body positions.

One author claims that you can do emotions in similar ways. I know that desire and lust is quite contagious (at least to me). Anyone here ever use this stuff in relationships consciously? I suspect that to be most effective there has to be the right tone and tempo of speaking that is matched by body positioning.

I believe that the mirroring occurs once the other partner subconsciously wants to be liked/lusted by the first partner. Then subconsciously they mirror each other in terms of body positioning and gestures. I have read the research and I have tried it many times myself. I put my hands on my hips and within a minute, my partner puts her hands on her hips. I cross my arms and then the other person crosses their arms. I put my hands behind my back and they do the same. When you ask them, they never realize that they are doing it. It is like a game of Simon Says without the "May I?" Now about emotions? Lust? I don't know for sure, but I sure would like to be in the study that examines this!!!!
