I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Kallman's Syndrome ?
Its VERY common in males but females can get it too (rare for females tho)
Basically what it means is you're born without horomoes and have to take an supplement to provide horomoes. It also causes you not to have a sense of smell. For women, its mostly just birth control they take to provide the horomoes.
I was just wondering if anyone had it or knew someone that did???
While I don't care about the males end (lol sorry) I do wonder if those of you that are females or know of a female that has it, what kind of horomoe replacement do they take? :-)
I have Kallman's Syndrome :-( I take birth controll pills for it but I was wondering if anyone knows if other types will work too? The pills can be a pain to have to remember to take every day, I was reading about shots you can take every 3 months.. does that work? I tired the patch and it didn't work to well (it works, I just didn't like the messy "week" it gave me lol)
Is there even a PERMIT way to have horomoes?? :-) <--- a question Ive been asking since I was 17 when I first found out I was born without it. (when you haven't gotten a period by 17, usually somethings wrong)
Well, Im going to hide now :-) hehe (im kinda embarrassed saying I have this cause Ive been called a freak way to many times but I do have so many questions lol Sadly every time I try to search online, you get mostly male one results since it being in females is so rare)

PS. Will check back later, I love this site to much to really hide :-) Made a lot of friends too.

every now and then nature screws up the recipe and lets something out.. in your case we call it kallmans...
best advice i can give ya, and you've probably already done it, is to check things out thru
www.webmd.com
sorry cant be of much help. i've heard of this but it is extremely rare as you stated earlier.

you can check out post menopause HRT .....
I am not sure if they have started work on ostregon *sp* inserts yet...but i know they have created the testostrone ones for males ( strange that lol )
the inserts are time release capasules injected into the body that relase measured amounts of the hormone missing due to kallmans syndrome
trouble is that the ladies plumbing is more delicate and harder to get into sync than a males....us males don't have to worry about a monthly cycle or ovation
i do know that injections are available of syntheic hormones..and I understand its got a 60% success rate, but i believe that its dealing with pregnancy more than treating the kallmans syndrome
one thing that is rather common amongst males with kallmans syndrome...is a increase of aggresive behievour / assaults......trouble is, its aimed at females
and they are quick to blame the testostrone therapy.... personally I think thats a piss poor excuse to use for anybody that hits or abuses a lady

Reading your post, I'm suddenly very aware that I don't know much about my own condition . . . and I probably should. My period never came, either (not that I cared!), and so a quick blood test by the gynocologist showed that I had cysts on my ovaries. I'm not sure if a lack of hormones caused them, or vice-versa, but I was put on birth control pills to supply me with hormones, too. And yes, it is extremely difficult to remember to take them daily. I can admit that I haven't remembered to steadily take them for almost 2 years
I don't have Kallman's, and I'm not sure whatever it is that I have is even comparable, since I'm not completely without hormones, but thought I'd mention it. Coincidentally, I've been very interested in sex/gender lately, and hormones are about the most fickle things around- they really confuse everybody, lol.

I'm on the flip side. A guy with the syndrome. Found out via a doctor a while back. They put me on intramuscular injections of testosterone ethenate. It's basically pure testosterone in sesame seed oil.
I went off treatment about two or three years ago. The cost became a major factor, along with the rage testosterone brought. From what I was led to believe, I'll never father children.
Also, it seems anyone with the syndrome lacks a 'real' sex drive. It's difficult to explain to folks "look I just don't get aroused because there's no real interest." Yes, there is interest, but the chemicals aren't there to fire it up.
My typical reaction to people wanting to get me in the mood is roughly; "sure, why not? Would love to!" And while I might desire a good romp, nothing happens inside, nor externally. So it's "sorry, it's not you. I just can't." Which is a real pain the neck at times.
That isn't to say I do not get aroused at all. Sometimes what little chemicals are produced inside get into high gear. Then if you've got pulse and over eighteen and under fifty, watch out. But those times are few and far between with me. Takes a lot of foreplay and coaxing, understanding.
As far as information on it, Google is handy. Aside from that consult an endrocrynologist. Yahoo has a mailing list for syndrome folk. Not on it any more myself, but it may be what you need.

Hey DD :)
You brought back an VERY old post lol (July 27th) but thats ok, I am pretty happy to hear Im not the only one on the baord with Kallman's Syndrome :)
My doctor said it was very possible for me to have children as I did have "all the parts" in there, just not the singal to release the egg. (plus the fact my treatment is birthcontrol pills which is dangerous for a baby and I can't just stop taking them)
I so agree with you on the aroused part....
I get aroused often tho if the mood is right and Im feeling romantic (I am an romantic gal) But I agree sometimes I feel aroused and sometimes I don't when I should be lol Maybe thats why I like kissing and hugging so much.... cause you can also make love just that way and be happy too :-)
Now to find someone that agrees you can so just make love by kissing and touching :-)
I just wish there was more information for women as all the KS info seems to be for men

Well, even for men determination of what causes KS is a real fun subject. "Is it because of family?" "No. As best we can guess, it just happens." The doctor said it was possible for me to father children. I'm not sure about the exact method that'd be used. He mentioned something about a needle, and a part of my body I do not want needles going into.
Otherwise we can always adopt. Lots of children need good homes. I wouldn't be too upset by adopting one or more. But, at present my wife and I are content with critter kids. We've difficulty imagining ourselves being up to parenting human children. We'd do it if the need existed, but as we've a choice, we'll hold off.
We aren't in a good financial position for it now. Emotionally, I'm not sure Chris has a maternal instinct. Us without human children doesn't seem to bother her. We love our nephews and neices, but also love giving them back. Human children are far too 'noisy' to 'fit' into our home life at the present. Also, we look at the state of the world.
Sometimes, the better part of being responsible is knowing when to say no. We feel bringing children up in the world's state is better left to sane folks. If i had a human boy child, he'd be brought up like the little boy in Mad Max: Beyond the Thunder Dome. He'd walk right out on the rail track and hold up a train. "Stop, this is a hold up!"
It's bad enough our critter kids are taught to harbor no fear. Can you imagine what human children would grow into if we had them? Monsters they'd be unleashed in our wild world. And it has no further need of monsters. Of course, our critters are loud at times. We can toss them outside without too much worry over being reported for child abuse, though.
I concur on the hugging and kissing being a good thing. But, yes at times it really hurts not to be able to give more. That's just how life keeps us humbled. We'll survive, always do. I find lots of times, patience with myself is a lesson I need. And patience with others is one everyone needs. Patience and perserving make the eye of the tempest a force of its own.
Knowing you got that force within helps a great deal. It's also nice to see it in other folks. Sorry I don't know much beyond this about KS, but I know there's a good bit on the internet discussing it. Ignorance is cureable, stupidity is not. If I don't know about something, I normally know where to look to find out.
Well, I better scoot. Rain is still peltting us, supposedly it fares off tomorrow. Meanwhile, our cats have taken over the house as a refugee camp. One little guy, Boomer, loves to 'war'. I think they're attacking the Mem in the bedroom now. :)) I'll need to be the :cop:, or face being turned into a newt again.

Hi DD,
It is hard to explain Kallman's Syndrome since A LOT of people have never heard of it before.... I even had some people call me a freak!!! Yikes :-(
Thats why I guess I like people who are willing to understand and learn about it cause they love learning new things or they know people with other issues so they are used to these kind of things.
Its even better when someone else has it too or knows someone that does :-)
In order for me to get pregnant, I'll probably have to take a safer form of birthcontrol and have the "shake n bake" thing done (you know, doctor takes egg and sperm, mixes and puts it in me).... which isn't so bad but adoptions is always nice to... I even wouldn't mind if I fell in love and married someone who already had kids :-)
My friend from school, Andrea, while she thinks having Kallman's is a great thing (lol cause of no period and you get to stay thin, I told her it wasn;t a great thing to have but she doesn;t care hehe) she did have a point when she said lots of people need someone quiet and not so sexually active to settle down with and I'll make a perfect person to settle down with :-)
Kallman's is hard to have but at least there are still people out there whos willing to understand and learn about it :-) to be called a freak....etc just shows your glad you don't know that person (or shows who your real friends are.)

I dont have Kallmann's but sympathise with Tasha's sentiment. There are people out there (I'm one of them) who like to hug, kiss, stroke, caress and pleasure others. For me, its more important about what goes on between the ears than between the legs ... well, almost!

You are the first guy I have ever heard say that :) Most guys ive known just want in your pants, if you just want kissing and touching, they complain about "thier needs"
You're one of the old fashion guys that still exists are you? :)

Tasha,
Most people make fun of or if you ask me disrespect something they know little or nothing about and in return hurt the person behind the unfornate situation or not always unfornate situation but hopefully you'll see where I'm coming from. I've had friends take the shots and have told me that they will make you stop your cycle completely sometimes but because I have never gone that route I wouldnt know from personal experience.
From what I have looked up on the internet I think Kallmans should be further looked into as well as other health issues that affect many others and that doctors should learn more themselves.
Other than that, I am sorry that I couldn't be much more help but you know I am always here if you need someone. :tong:
