Crystal Bowersox, a former runner up for American Idol, released a Christmas song that is getting attention after Christmas. In the song, she "comes out" as bisexual.
Crystal is the first Idol contestant to come out as bisexual. Two others came out" as gay..they were men. Where are the bisexual male singers from American Idol? lol In the Huffington Post article, there are thirty images of celebs who have said that they are bisexual. Almost all are women. Pete Best is bisexual and wanted to fuck Jagger though is mentioned…lol
Just months after "American Idol" season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox announced a divorce (http://www.wetpaint.com/american-idol/articles/american-idols-crystal-bowersox-and-husband-brian-walker-split-up) from her husband Brian Walker in May 2013, the singer sat down with "Good Day L.A." (http://www.myfoxla.com/story/24080008/crystal-bowersox-i-have-been-bisexual-for-as-long-as-i-can-remember) and opened up about her bisexual identity.
“I’ve been bisexual for as long as I can remember,” Bowersox told reporters in November (http://www.myfoxla.com/story/24080008/crystal-bowersox-i-have-been-bisexual-for-as-long-as-i-can-remember). “I remember being made fun of in junior high for that. It was something that was shameful, and it really shouldn’t be.”
Bowersox also released a track titled "Coming Out For Christmas" to accompany her step outside the closet, which can be heard above.
Recently, GregInHollywood released an interview with the "American Idol" alum (http://greginhollywood.com/american-idol-runner-up-crystal-bowersox-on-why-she-came-out-as-bi-secrets-are-no-fun-94499) in which the runner-up reflected on her decision to come out as bisexual, stating that the response has been "overwhelmingly positive. People are like no matter what, dreads or no dreads, whatever your orientation is, my fans are die hard and I love them for it. They take me as I am."
"American Idol" has historically elevated a number of members of the LGBT community to fame, including season two runner-up Clay Aiken (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/03/clay-aiken-congress_n_4536197.html) and season eight runner-up Adam Lambert (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/08/glee-adam-lambert-glamorous-debut-too-much-video_n_4237559.html). However, like Bowersox, none of these contestants came out of the closet until after their time on the show.
