I woke up today with a cool idea for a T-shirt, or lapel button, to wear out and about. The way I envisioned it was on a dark shirt, possibly black, with two small lines of white lettering. The first, or top line says "i am the..." followed by an illustration, or caricature, of a honeybee, complete with wings, black and yellow striped body, and antennae, preferably smiling. The second line is two very short words, "in lgbt." It can be writ small or large, but smaller gets them to lean in, so you can watch their faces as they figure it out.

I love it....Sailor is thinking again.

Thank you, Belle. If anyone else has already come up with it, won't you please tell me where I can get one?

I'm thick as a brick right now. It must be time to eat. It took me a bit to get it...lol Especially when gear added a reference to a honey pot.

It is cute. I also like it. Maybe the OP could get some printed up. I'd buy one but shipping may be a B..ach ;)..maybe not? I actually have connections to get it printed btw through an artist run print shop that I am connected to. I don't know what the minimum order might be but they are hand made.

...Perhaps its appropriate that:tongue: someone with a bisexual sensibility had the creativity to come up with this..

Sounds good to me--actually--it is a pretty clever concept--good job sailor.

I love this idea too....might even buy one.....even if I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to wear it.

Bi's to rule the world hey? And never die? or at least not permanently;)... The bee is an ancient symbol of immortality and resurrection and is one of the earliest symbols of the monarchs of France.. In the mid 17th century golden bees were discovered when they opened the tomb of Childeric the founder of the Merovingian dynasty of France and after the revolution Napoleon chose it personally for inclusion on his imperial coat of arms.. no record of either being bisexual, but who knows... just lil bitta trivia I picked up on hol 2 France wen I wos but a brat:)...

Are these what you're looking for Geary?

Who say's we're not descended from plants?! But I'm not sure these really fit the low-key intent of the OP for shirt-design.

If you go to your office supply store or online outlet, you will find "Iron-On Transfer" paper. These are sheets that you can run-through your inkjet printer in full colour. Be sure to match brands, as in, if you have an HP printer, try to find HP products, Epson, same; although "Avery" has some offerings, and these will list compatibility across different brands.

Be sure to produce a digital "reverse" image, because you'll want to produce a "backwards image" with your inkjet printer, so that when you lay it "glue side" down; it will look right-side up.

Perhaps peeps here can submit a variet of designs, and these could all be 'pasted-up' onto a single 8.5" x 11" sheet; and that's what'll get mailed-around....

There's some good opportunity for good cooperative action on this. Anyone with a design concept can share here, and the 'digitally saavy' can produce the e-versions.

I will be watching this thread, becaues I like the idea very much!

Wow, thanks everyone. I am tempted to see if I can find a shop here in Seattle that will silkscreen them, don't know how many I would order, and in what colors or sizes, but the design of our bee presents interesting possibilities. My original thought was of a "cartoon" sort of bee, much like the little guy in the cereal commercials (Honey 'n' Oat or something like that?). Seen from slightly behind, with an anthropomorphized head (but with antennae, of course), black and yellow striped body, and kind of looking over his shoulder at you with just a bit of a smile. Instantly recognizable as a bee, but, together with the text, offering just a little bit of a come-on. What does anyone think?

Annika , That looks more like a fly . I would use a more iconic bumble bee . Much easier to identify as a bee .

lol trademark the idea.... I know a few people in NZ that like the idea and would be interested in talking turkey over the rights to print and market the t-shirts in NZ for LGBT pride days and so on, where there would be a niche market and hopefully that would expand out into everyday casual wear.....

It would be cool to have some sort of "secret" symbol like a handshake or something as a way of communicating our preferences to those "in the know". I'm just trying to figure out how to answer the grand kids when they figure it out.

Why not just use the bisexual symbol or bisexual flag colors?
