If ever there was a post on this site that deserves the support and blessings of all members, this is the one. We feel for you and will pray for him. Words can't change life events but possibly they can offer comfort and understanding. Our prayers and thoughts go out to you both.

I can relate! Lost my younger brother at the vibrant age of 39; he lingered on his deathbed for 10 days then passed on his only child's 6th birthday. Incredibly hard for me to deal with! Like you,I had held fast to hope because he was tough and had miraculously survived a devastating freak accident earlier in his life. After his passing, I experienced powerful spiritual phenomena; I KNOW there IS a beyond; and I know you are spiritual like me & will leave it at that!

Beautiful and wise Cat, I am very sorry. When I despair comfort comes in remembering that no matter what suffering we face in this world, our spirit, our commitment and our love live on. The memory of those things and their impact on our world are much greater than the boundaries the physical world could ever contain.

Thinking of you with love

A friend JUST sent a message to my inbox that I thought maybe I should share, I hope it is meaningful to you..

I am beautiful, I am indeed beautiful:
I am the spirit of the earth itself.

I am beautiful, I am indeed beautiful:
The earth's strength is my strength.

I am beautiful, I am indeed beautiful:
The earth's thoughts are my thoughts.

I am beautiful, I am indeed beautiful:
All that the earth is, all that is everywhere I am.

I am beautiful, I am indeed beautiful.

~Navaho Chant of the Changing Woman

What woman among us can truly celebrate her beauty? Once we lived in small communities, surrounded by people like ourselves. We felt the wind on our faces and the warmth of the sun; we fed ourselves with food harvested by our own labor. A woman in such a community was never just a visual object, to be observed and evaluated from a distance. She was known for her hard work or her easy laughter, for her kind words or her exuberant dancing. When those in her community looked at her, they did not see a still life but a moving picture.

Today we are surrounded by still pictures of women, models who pose on every corner, every passing bus, every magazine cover. We know nothing of these women. We do not know which of them lost their brothers to early deaths, or which were hurt by cruel parents. We do not know which one loves the flashing rainbow or the thunder. We see them only as visual compositions; we cannot see their hearts.

This is the vision of beauty we are offered now. Yet the wise ones of the desert knew that woman's beauty is as various as the seasons, as changeful as the skies, as complex as a snake's brilliant markings. Let us rejoice, as they did, in the variety and depth of every woman.

I can say, that I do not have an emotion, Cat. To do so, would extract a reality out me, as a parent, that I do not want to go to. As a parent, you have my full, and whole hearted sympathies. The Lord bless him, The Lord keep him.

Cat,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Nothing anyone can say will change the grief we experience with the loss of a child. I have personally found some comfort from a poem written by Mary Frye, I hope it will help you through this challenging time.

Pappy

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there;
I did not die.
