LOL Sitting waiting for the bus today, and a group from the Senior Retirement center sat with me. There were 4 little old ladies, and they were a Hoot! They sat there making catty comments about people's clothes, and what-not. Not in a mean way, just a playful one. The oldest lady was 87 yrs old, and just sat there quietly, not saying a word the whole time, just staring straight ahead.
One young man came in wearing his "Jammie" bottoms, and one lady remarked, "What? Are these kids too flippin' lazy to put clothes on when they leave the house?" We all chuckled.

A couple of young men came in and had to stop in front of us for a moment, sloppy looking clothes, talking loud and boisteriously. Suddenly, out of no where, that one little ole lady shouted, "Pull yer pants up asshole! We dont wanna see yer pampers!!!....". She then slipped back into that almost catatonic-like state.

OMG Ya'll, I almost swallowed my Pepsi bottle, and thought people all around were going to bust a gut laughing. Kid looked startled as the Seniors just Roared.
Their Shuttle bus arrived a minute later and we were still wiping tears of laughter from our eyes, and they were escorted out. I wished them a very Happy Thanksgiving, and tried to not laugh when the kids came back out after the Seniors left.
I wanna be like them when I grow up..:}

Great story, Cat, thanks. When we hit mid-sixties we are no longer inclined to put up with other people's bad behavior. But of course, we are still capable of plenty mischief of our own. :suave:

I think that the fact that the OP found this a suitable funny story to relate indicates more about her and the old ladies than about the younger people wearing clothes in ways that they want to.

Although I think that as you age you may be less likely to put up with crap, rudeness is rudeness regardless of your age. The old ladies were out and out rude. Their age doesn't grant them a right to speak rudely to strangers who are doing nothing to them. I think that the younger people being verbally harassed showed more dignity that these creepy, bully like women.

Typical case of old people, who don't want to except the new generation way of living, thinking, dressing up. Sometimes for me is hard to convince my grandma that people now have new behavior in society, but she's so stingy of her beliefs.

I've been the butt of mickey taking by ole coots an ole bats bout how I dress from length of me skirt 2 me bra or nips showing through me blouse or shirt.. ... irascible and often bloody offensive and rude.. and tenni does have a point... it can be hurtful and was once, but u develop a thicker skin in time and tell them where to get off.. many old folk do forget that 1ce when they were young they too were in their own way just as much criticised for hair style make up or dress as we are now... and when they are offensive they had better be prepared for the sharpness of the Fran tongue.. age when it shows no respect deserves no respect back..

..however we should be careful of taking it as being rude and offensive.. often it is mickey taking meant in jest as many older peeps would love to be as we.. it isnt envy but more regret that they in their day were unable to be so free as younger people of today.. not all condemn us for wear a skirt just beow our cheeks.. me gran was only ever concerned whether I caught pneumonia.. and said so.. and she said it to many young people not just family... me other Gran was a judgemental ole bat who didnt think ne 1 should have fun and should just be covered head 2 toe in cloth... she would heartily approve of the burqa even if she loathed owt but Roman Catholicism... it depends on the spirit of what is said and how.. not all old folk are being rude.. many are.. many are just wrinkled old frustrated prunes who judge the young in ways we would shudder at.. but just as many were and often still are as fun loving as they ever were and do have a sense of humour and devilment and for God's sake... if we get prickly at every comment an older person makes about our dress or how we are, we are going to be just as wrinkly, just as rude and just as prudish as they who would have us cover up and wear skirts down to our ankles and no longer put on show any flesh whatsoever.. we should be careful of our own thin skins...

Ha! My mother called the cruel things she said, something else.

At a restaurant salad bar, one time, she told a fat lady, who was heaping cheese and dressing on her salad, "That's exactly why you're so fat...that stuff is not good for you!"

I acted like I didn't know who my mother was and distanced myself from her!

At our table, I told her that she mortified me, that she'd talk to a stranger, like that.

She said, "That, my son, was constructive criticism!"

She, however, did not take kindly to any criticism of herself!

It was funny on TV, but going out of your way to say things that hurt a person's feelings, is not cool!

I'm sure that obese lady had plenty of folks who reminded her of her weight, teased, humiliated her......why rub salt into her wounds?

It's just a matter of tact. Your mum had good intentions with her 'constructive critisism', and the rest had good intentions with their silence. But only your mum took an interest in advising the lady.
It was tactless, but pro-active. She prob guessed that the lady was teased and humiliated too. But actualy attempted to advise the lady to resolve the 'problem' that all else could see.

I got home from food shopping one day and noticed a massive rip in the arse of my jeans. I had walked around the streets and shops with my white boxers on show. Nobody told me!lol I wish someone like your mum was around to take an interest at the time.:)

Oh good grief Tenni. You really oughta pull that stick out of the ass of the stick that's in your ass. You saw it as offensive, those who were seeing it live found it hilarious. And to the other two who commented too, you really had to be there to find the humor in it I guess..:}
Its all good.
Hugs to those who knows my sense of humor, and shares it..:}
