Yes, I think it is a good thing to remember that words can hurt someone just as much as a fist. I'm glad she made the message all inclusive.

Thanks for sharing

You're right of course, Elian but sometimes hurtful words can return to the originator hurtfully in other ways..

Not long after I joined this site I was going out with a woman a bit older than myself who was about 2 stone overweight (28lbs 2 u lot). We were sitting in a city park enjoying the sun when a couple of lads around my age began sniffing if u get my drift.. we may have been in a relationship but she was not one for displaying affection in public and so these dummies had no idea we were romantically involved.. it was friendly at first but gradually as they became increasingly annoying we asked them to pack it in and leave us alone... as cocky getts do they became even more annoying... not wishing for bother we got up and decided to go...

...as we walked way one of these shitebags made the mistake of saying something like "I love big women, hen. Yez make the best shags an big fat things like u willni get a better offer in ur lifetime." Well I heard the intake of breath next to me and quick as a flash one of these idiots was lying on the floor with his mouth bleeding and seeing stars and the other was face down on the park bench upon which we had only just been sitting. She bounced his face off the bench a couple of times and said nothing then walked back to me as if nothing had happened. My mouth was open with shock and I was astonished at how quickly all this had happened. All she said to me knowing how I felt about violence was "Dont u dare say a fucking word.." I knew she was sensitive about her weight but had no idea just now much..

Later in the pub as we chatted about the incident she said "I've been hurt all my life because of my size... they dish it out their way.. I dish it out mine.. ok?" All I did was hold up my hands and acknowledge what she said... I don't think she was right in how she reacted, but when people become personal and hurtful they should always expect that hurt to come flying back at them in some way or t'otha...

Thanks for posting that, Void. People need to realize that commenting about someone's personal appearance uninvited is not welcome. Not to the overweight person or to the extremely skinny person, not to the beautiful person or to the ugly person, not to the healthy and whole person or to the disabled and missing limbed. Unless someone asks for your opinion regarding outward appearances, keep your trap shut.

I was watching this vid and thinking.. man I'd love to watch this woman's show. I loved her voice and the way she enunciated clearly and I can well understand the community support rallying around her against the bully.
