Under the headline "A bisexual spouse can still be a good husband, father".

Dr Joyce Brothers gives advice to the mother-in-law of a married bisexual man...

Doctor Brothers mentions "Although no one can be certain how many wives find themselves in situations similar to your daughter's, 10,000 to 20,000 of them have contacted and used online support groups".

Which reminded me that ever since I got back from 9ICB I have been meaning to add the Straight Spouse Network (http://main.bisexual.com/links/showlink.php?do=showdetails&l=310) to our Bi Web section. It looks like a great resource and I met one of the folks who work there.

Check it out as a great resource for bi folks and their straight partners.

When I was a teenager in the mid-eighties, my mother gave me a book by Dr. Joyce Brothers about relationships. I thought it was eye-rollingly out-of-date, and suspected she gave it to me because of its fairly blanket warning against interracial relationships. (She also complained about how the existence of gay men meant there were that many fewere marriageable men out there ... but never mentioned that lesbians mean there are fewer women competing for them ...) I wonder if Brothers has mellowed out, or if she's just not as bad as I thought at the time?

"It would be difficult to tell you how shocked and upset I am by this," - fair enough

"and how wrong I think it is." - what a wanker

Drew - Please let us know when you add the straight spouse network. I think it would be a great idea to help our spouses with a good support network. It's hard enough for us to com eout, I can not imagine what our loved ones must feel. A network just for them will hopefully help them fully understand how much we love them, and that our sexuality does not reflect on them in any negative way.

Great idea!

I have often heard this said, but I have yet to find documentation to prove it.

For every letter of an opinion the media receives, they assume the opinion is shared by 100 more viewers/readers who did not bother to sit down and write a letter.

If we wanted to write a letter of commendation for this to encourage the topic and the representation within the media, where would we send the letter? How do we find out which media outlets have published this opinion piece, so that we can send our letter to our most local media representative?
