No, not that kind, although I swear I heard a ghostly voice at the playhouse while I was in the back room putting on my tap shoes :yikes2:
What I'm referring to are alcoholic beverages.
I usually stick to beer. Stouts and Porters mostly.
Lately I've been enjoying extra spicy bloody marys, dirty vodka martinis (using Svedka for both) and I never turn down a nice bourbon or single malt scotch.
So what do y'all like to knock back on a lazy day in or a raucous night out?

hmmmm give me whisky any day but right now can't do much with the steroids. last I had was one of those nice Dailey's Cocktails that are already premixed.. had a nice strawberry daquiri on my birthday. That's my preference in liquor but I've been known to grab some beer at the store, easy to do now that my county went wet :)

Glad to see someone else spell it properly ;)As one who much prefers cognac, but daughter and granddaughter of 2 very discerning whisky drinkers, the correct spelling of the word to describe the "water of life" is dependant upon the origin of the spirit.. Scotch is always "whisky" but American whisky almost always and Irish whiskies are always spelt with an "e". Legally, American whiskey is referred to as whisky, but the Irish producers it was who first stuck the "e" into the word to differentiate between their product and the Scottish sometime in the 19th century. To spell Scotch with an "e" is always technically incorrect and Irish without also... American it depends on the producer and upon whether u are describing the spirit in legal terms... so with American ya takes ya choice.. does it matter if u enjoy what u enjoy?
Regarding Cognac, all cognac is brandy but not all brandy is cognac since to be called a cognac, brandy must be produced in the Cognac region of France... I refer to myself as a cognac drinker although I do drink other brandies because my favourite tipple of an evening happens to be a cognac... and I'm a snob about some things. *laffs*

Prefer scotch and soda most of the time. Once in a great while a "screw driver" (orange juice and vodka) is nice. Saturdays we usually visit a sub shop after grocery shopping. I really enjoy a beer with my sub at lunch.

In the hot Summer days, Rum & Coke, Gin & Tonic are the Gods & Godess nectars..
Otherwise, a nice stout beer or a good wine will do wonders too!
A good home made meade too.
Blessed be!

Speaking of nectars of the divine, I have a wee suggestion. Try to get your hands on a bottle of Lurgashall Mead. It's not homemade, and it's a tad pricy but it's damn near the most delicious beverage I've ever tasted. Truly incredible.

I like three kinds of liquor:
Tequila
Tequila
and
Tequila
Best blanco I ever had: 7 Leaguas; Best reposado I ever had: Don Agustin. Superior anejo is difficult to get here in the Northeast but Patron will always do.
Love a good margarita as well, especially in the summer.

In my "Bad Girl" days before I got married, Capt Morgan's Spiced Rum was my good friend. Of course that was back when it Was an actual spiced rum. Cap'm Morgan's and Dr. Pepper, Seagrems Silver and coke. Burboun and RC cola on occassion. Chihuahua's in winter *Tequla and Grapefruit juice over crushed ice. I still like this when I'm sick, but I dont make a habit of it anymore. Nowdays I'm such a lite-weight when it comes to drinking. I Love a good made Strawberry Daquerie when out terrorizing the local Tavern with the girls,, or Margarita with Mexican foods..:}

It all depends on the setting; if I'm pretending to be normal, then it's a Stollies on the rocks with a twist. If I'm out to be me, then it's Bud and shots of Cuervo, in this case, be prepared for a stand up routine. With my g/f, then it's wine.

It used to be that my county was dry and we had to go the backroads from my old house to Big Jacks Boston Beverage as it was in the next county over, like a 20 minute drive. The only thing you could buy in the grocery here was non alcoholic beer like O'Douls or Sharps. Then we went "moist" pervs get over it, it's a term that means you can get beer and alcohol at restaurants serving food only. Cue a few years later and we are finally full out wet. I still can't buy liquor at the grocery store like you could, say in California, but I can buy beer there. I have seen a few liquor stores pop up in town and all the crap they warned about having has not happened. There hasn't been an increase in drunk driving or domestic abuse, simple fact is liquor was always available you just had to know where to look for it.
So, as I posted, I would prefer a nice whisky but what I wind up mostly with is beer, as it's most convenient to get without making a special stop. Those nice little Dailey's Cocktails are great and you can find them in a lot of the stores around town so I've been having a few of those too. Sorry, but 1.99 for a nice shot of rum?? :) Cheaper by far than some of the bars I've seen.
I'm one of those social drinkers and moderation people, occasionally I'll get more than a wee bit buzzed but usually it's because something is going on. Drinking for me affects me in one of two ways and I don't get to choose. I either get incredibly horny or incredibly sleepy.

So what do y'all like to knock back on a lazy day in or a raucous night out?
This is a dangerous door to open for me *huge smile*...especially since you didn't specify the season:
Lazy day in summer:
Mint julep
Light beer or shandy
Gin and club soda with a splash of Campari
Mix of 70% dry red wine with 30% diet 7-up
homemade Sangria
Raucus night out in summer:
Martinis (that would be gin, relatively dirty, shaken, with 2 olives)
Whisky and club soda
Free-flowing dry red wine
Margaritas or tequila/lemon shots
Lazy autumn day:
good rich Pilsner
dry red wine
room temperature stout
Raucus Autumn night:
home-brewed mead
blended Scotch whisky on the rocks
Bourbon with water or club soda
Gin and tonic
Lazy winter day:
Hot spiced wine
small glass of port
cognac
Raucus night in winter (though my winter nights are usually serene, rather than raucus, to be honest):
Manhattans
blended Scotch with a splash of Drambuie over ice
Martinis often make another appearance here
VO and ginger-ale or club soda
Bourbon and water with a splash of gingerbread flavoring syrup
a good sipping-rum
Lazy day in spring:
dry red wine
Pilsner, IPA, or bitter
home-brewed mead
Raucus night in spring:
Yeah, ok, gotta say martinis again
Sexy maidens (gin, sour mix, red grapefruit juice, splash of blue curacao)
Whisky and soda
Rum punch
home-brewed mead
Year-round, any evening:
Single malt Scotch or Irish whisky (preferably Scotch), neat, with a drop of water to open the flavor and aroma -- at last count, we have something like 28 different varieties open in the house.
...did I hear someone call me a lush?? Sheesh, what are *you* doing even *reading* a page about alcohol? They don't call me the Mistress of Drinks for nothin'.

Well, now we are talking my kind of thread. I like Bloody Mary's for summer or brunch. Rim a glass with Old Bay Seasoning after wiping with a wedge of lime. I have a few mixes I like...The Big Kahunna, Major Peter's, and Ocean Spray are the best, in my opinions. I will add pickled jalepeno juice for a kick. I serve them with skewered olives and cocktail onions. I also found some delicious sweet pickled okra. I like Stoli or Pearl's Cucumber Vodka.
My winter drink is Southern Comfort on the rocks with a twist of lemon. I do love a Belvedere Dirty Martini.....or if I am really wanting....a FILTHY DIRTY MARTINI.
If I want a refreshing drink I have Stoli Orange and Sprite with a splash of Tonic Water and a lime.
I like Belgium Wheat beers...Blue Moon, Hoegartens.
I am not much of a fruity juice or frozen drink fan.

Have never been one for cocktails and think that's me dad's influence.. his idea of a cocktail was pouring himself a half of Bushmills, adding half as much water and topping it up with Islay Mist and a half of Glenkinchie to add bite... any shaking or stirring to be done inside the body (he was a great experimenter of whisky flavours).... to be chased by a half pint of foaming brown (cask conditoned) ale... mine is an evening on the plonk and finishing off with one or two wee cognacs.. Don't drink much beer but there are one or two bitters and heavies I find quite pleasant. The old man's home brew, a half pint of that and the legs wobble... but with beer one is enough or I will be in and out of loo all night...:eek2:
Dad btw would never allow Jack Daniels in the house... that and White Horse.. "Pish and only guid for swillin' oot the pigs" was his expression in broad Fife... me brother is a gr8 JD drinker but never around the old man when he was alive... he drank what he was told *laffs*

Sorry, LDD, I'm not trying to steal your girl.
To be clear, my lists were not lists of *ingredients* for drinks...they were lists of *drinks* I enjoy at different times of year. I'm not actually much for cocktails myself (I think you'll find only 2-3 in my list above), and certainly not for sweet ones. Fran's dad's 50% Bushmills, 50% water, with a spash of Irish Mist sounds much more my speed (although I confess that 25 years ago, I was a huge fan of fuzzy navels, and tried a few others on your list).

Ole fogeys order up a half and a half in pubs.. which is a half gill of hooch (sometimes with water sometimes not) and a half pint of beer (never lager).. very Scottish... the half pint of beer sometimes lasts all night although occasionally the ole coots may buy a second...... and copious amounts of hooch 'bout as long as copious amounts of hooch lasts.. cant get hooch in old measures now.. its all in centilitres... and boy don't the old fools letya know it... a nip is about half the size of an old nip and so they ask for a dram and they get what they used to get for a nip.. and pay the full whack an all.. me dad was all for the changeover to metric fluid measurements until the day it affected how much he got in his whisky down pub.. if they ever change the beer measurements away from pints he will come back and haunt those responsible...*laffs*
Fran purloined daddy's old imperial spirit measures when he died.. big bruv being a posey prat decided the optics would look good on the bar he wanted to build in his living room... all old measures... none ever get used... big bruv will never build that bar and Fran just opens bottle and lets it flow till she is happy wiv how much is in glass.... but they do look nice in our glass cabinet...

Well my favorite drinks are Guinness, Newcastle, Salty Dogs (grapefruit juice with vodka I always use Stolichnaya with salt on the rim), Birthday cake shots (half vodka Stoli, and half Frangelico's and a lemon with sugar, you lick off the sugar, take the shot, and then bite the lemon), and I like whiskey sours as well (generally with Jack Daniel's). I also just tried spiked Thai ice tea using Baileys, which was delicious.

lol yeah they would be some heavy duty drinks if they were ingredients, lol..... and I would join cin for a drink with ya if home brewed honey mead was being poured....
one of my friends makes honey mead and serves it with a nip of scotch and a dash of drambuie... liquid ecstasy..... or if they have a touch of the flu, honey mead, scotch and green ginger, then tucked into a warm bed ...... and their dear lady loves her honey mead with a nip of baileys irish cream.... far too sweet for my liking but she loves the sweet honey mead, I perfer semi sweet.....
we have manuka honey over here, and its fairly expensive, but it is one of the few honeys that actually has medical properties that have been officially recognized by the medical profession... its good for cuts and mild burns, chaffing and other minor ailments..... manuka honey mead and schweppes dry lemonade...oh baby......
honey mead, fresh baked bread from a old wood burning oven, fresh churned butter straight from the cow, preserves from fruit trees that have never been treated with insecticides or chemicals, fresh garden vegetables, fresh farm killed lamb cooked in a wood burning oven or over a fire pit and good friends...... that is heaven on earth......lol and people wonder why I live the old celtic way lol
