Lacking a uterus, I can't answer anything personally. But I've done some reading on this.

As for the porn, in some cases you may be right. Some porn studios will actually have a girl drink loads and loads of water to make her pee as clear as possible, then tell her to pee in small squirts to make it look like she's cumming. The reasoning behind this is twofold; it's a lot easier than actually having to bring girls to orgasm, particularly if the girls cumming are not the subject of the film (such as with female bukkake) and so that you don't need to pigeonhole your list of candidates for a shoot with "must be able to come at will." The difficulty as I understand is largely that female ejaculation is inextricably linked to the female orgasm, and we know that girls' cums aren't nearly as simple as a guy's. If you show extremely diluted pee on the right background, then most porn watchers won't know the difference.

Not all studios will do this however, and some will actually feature real cum. I've seen at least one female bukkake clip where the girls' cum was being collected in a vase, and the color was definitely a slighty-milky translucent liquid. I have it and can upload it, if that's within the bounds of acceptable here (Drew?). It was a free sample and is stamped with the studio's advertising so I'm sure it's public domain.

As for what is it? Mostly water. I don't know the details beyond that but I believe it isn't terribly different from semen (minus reproductive cells, of course). The theories behind it are mixed, and often tied into theories of female orgasm- some think that it's an evolutionary leftover from whatever line of monkeys we evolved from- it may very well eventually be lost (certainly not within our lifetime) due to not being needed for reproduction, and as such girls physiologically unable to cum or have orgasms can still reproduce and have children also incapable of orgasms. Another theory is that while unnecessary for reproduction, it does enhance the chance of conception because that much more watery lubricant will increase the guy's pleasure and make him squirt that much more, that much deeper (similar to the function of a girl having contractions during orgasm).

There's been a lot of speculation about female ejaculation (how's THAT for a rhyme!)

The best explanation I've heard is that it is linked to a gland that would have been the prostate gland if the fetus had developed differently. It's at the roof of the vagina, attached to the urethra, so the liquid emerges from the urethra, making it look like urine. (I can't remember the name of the gland at the moment.)

It's a translucent milky color, has a very faint sweet taste to it, no scent. Before I started menopause last year, I produced it in mass quantities when properly aroused by a lover who enjoyed it. If he/she expressed any distaste, it wouldn't happen again with them. It wasn't a concious choice at all, but definitely a very different level of arousal from then on. Now that I'm in menopause, I can't predict if I'll ejaculate or not. It usually still happens, but not in the same quantity (which required LARGE thick towels, or sleeping in a lake LOL)
