I’m writing this in the Irish Pub at MEL airport.
I’ve just “put” my 2 girls on the plane to Perth to attend their father’s (my Ex) wedding.
Wonderful to see how they are now both beautiful women – no longer “girls”
- Yes, I’m celebrating with a glass of bubbles, even tho it’s just past 9 am.
It’s been 3 and a bit years since he (we) pulled the plug on what was fast becoming a sham marriage – all problems have been resolved, we’ve both re-partnered and remain on very good terms.
I handwrote him a long letter earlier this week – it should arrive today wishing him and his new wife well and telling him there is an open invitation for dinner/drinks at my house any time they can, and that there will always be a place in my heart for him. Not “love” that’s gone: but certainly fond memories.
I’m also happy that he’s got himself a good 100% heterosexual girl* – not someone who’s sexuality was so muddled as mine was.
So the plane’s left, the bubbles are gone and now it’s time for me (and my girls) to stop playing nostalgia and to get my own life in order and become a “proper” partner 365 days a year – not the “sleep-over” arrangement we have now.
Okay – I’ve got pay the outrageous parking fee we have here at MEL and get some work done.

*(Catty moment. girl??? 45!! Evidently she is very much a 100% hetero. In racing terms she has excellent form in that area over a long period of time. But only at Group 1 level: she's choosy!! Very good on a sticky track!!!!! :yikes2: ) ........okay that got rid of the slight bitchiness I feel now and then!!!!!!!!:eek2:

I actually attended my ex's wedding together with Kate last year.. much to the chagrin of his mum who does not think I am one to be associated with. Fun day.. got only a little tiddly and gave the bugger the biggest snog I have given a man since we were still married as he and his bride were driven away for their "first night".. not being one for sexual discrimination I did offer the bride the same treatment but she laughed and said "No ta I'll pass" and offered me a huggle and her cheek. I too am over the moon for the daft sod.. he deserved more than I could ever give him, even if I do chomp at the bit about the fact that she is not long into her 20s!!!! But I like her and think she will be good for him... his mum likes her or at least doesn't loathe her so she doesn't have that to contend with. It makes me happy that he is happy and makes me happy that we have become good friends again...

Both of my parents are remarried and man, I do have to say the fact my all my parents get along (including my step-parents) sure makes things easier for me and my sister. It is wonderful also that my parents don't try to poison us against the other. I love that my parents are all happy and have spouses they love and cherish.

Have to say it's very touching.:) Your not made of stone Innaminka, and ex's wedding days are not exactly great for self praise! Leave the nostalgia where it is, and get on with your plans for your better partner.;)

@Randypan- I'll marry her for $450 a month.lol
