I've always thought that summer is when the best music of the year comes out. So my question to everybody, what songs have you been into lately and why?
I've really been listening to Photograph (by Nickelback) and Move Along (by The All American Rejects) non stop. The first is just so nostalgic of summer vacations and high school friends. The latter I just think is very well written.

I absolutely love the song "Photograph" by Nickelback. I'm not sure what it is about that song but I love it. I'm ususally a country music person and I love Carrie Underwood (she won the American Idol) I listen to her entire cd everyday.

String Cheese Incident. They are my wife's and my favorite band. Anyone ever hear them. They travel around and play lots of live shows. They are a bit of everything- bluegrass, rock, funk, latin, just depends on the song. Their albums are okay, but their live stuff is the best. If you can download some live songs off the internet, try to find Little Hands, Rollover, or Round the Wheel. They have tons of other great songs. Very inspiring and powerful. :bigrin:

Lately I've mostly been listening to industrial stuff... My favourite for when I'm doing something else is Cubanate, but if I just want to relax and experience the music, Nine Inch Nails (especially The Fragile) is such rewarding, complex music... Also some Tori Amos, Rainbow Butt Monkeys (many of whom went on to form Finger Eleven), Nickelback, White Zombie (Rob Zombie sucks without the band writing the songs for him), Red Hot Chili Peppers -- very fun live show -- and Barenaked Ladies. There's other stuff mixed in there as well, but it's kind of random. :)
Mostly I like to listen to fairly aggressive music, because in a weird backwards way it actually calms me down and keeps me focussed.

Listening to the album (They're Only Chasing Safety) by Underoath at the moment. I've also been really enjoying Leviathan by Mastodon lately. :)

I'm not too surprised... honestly, a lot of stuff by Nickelback (like this) and some other late 90s alternative groups almost feels to me like a grungy-country style.
Red Hot Chili Peppers -- great live show
A few weeks ago, XM Ethel played the entire new CD with interviews with the band between tracks (and NO ADS!!). It was really amazing and I can't wait to pick it up. I've been hooked on all the songs, 'specially Dani California.

I have a pretty wide range I listen to depending on the mood I'm in...anything from Classical to New Wave 80's, Rock to Pop, you name it...and I have been criticized for some of my tastes. Some days I'm feeling nostalgic and will just listen to oldies, other days rock, and sometimes just fun stuff to bop around to.
I like NIN, Def Leppard, Japan, Duran, X, Avenge Sevenfold, Coheed & Cambria, Santana, Cheap Trick, BEP, Maroon 5, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Papa Roach, Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, Seether, Aqua, Psychedelic Furs, Roxy Music, Thompson Twins, Erasure, My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Korn, Depeche Mode, INXS, and so on and so on..... :tong:

I was wondering if anyone else here likes Evanescence. I want to ask, do their songs remind you of being closetted/coming out as well? Or am I just making that up in my head? Specifically, I see a lot of the closet in Whisper, Imaginary and Where Will You Go, though I doubt reflections were intentional.

yeah, mine's been industrial too;
the whine of turbine engines and the growl of diesels under armor.. the clang of hammers on metal, the blasts of air horns through a 400 foot shop.
when i'm able to, mostly at home, i stream 1dot4 fm via windows media, or put in guys like r. carlos nakai, ottmar leibert and luna negra, al dimeola, etc.
in the p/u; well it's am/fm only, so either the local oldies station so i can trip back in time to yesteryear or the seattle jazz station for canned jazz..
and dat's da truf..ppppppllllllllttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
