Small minds.

I see the the contestant lied on the reg form and stated that she was born a female.... well, she may have been born a female internally and in her mind, but the biological sex that she was born, was male....

the rules that they claim, in the article, is actually the FAQ, thats not rules, thats Frequently Asked Questions.....

I would be very interested in seeing a set of the rules as they may cover other aspects that may have led to the disqualification of the contestant, and I am referring to issues such as cosmetic surgeries etc

at this stage, I am keeping a open mind about things until I read the rules, but I am bearing in mind that she lied in order to qualify for the contest... and to me, that is misrepresentation of facts and a form of fraud.....not discrimination against a person that legally entered a contest and was truthful about it

The contest has small minds for not letting a she/male into a females beauty contest? Really?

"
"From what I've read, it doesn't sound like they had any rules," Keisling said. "It seems like they made them up on the fly to disqualify her. It makes you wonder what they're afraid of."

A change.org petition initiated for Talackova quoted her Twitter feed, which has since been hidden.
Talackova wrote, according to the petition, that she was “disqualified for being born.”
On March 18, before learning she had been disqualified, she tweeted: “Still waiting to know if I’m able to compete ... praying and fingers crossed.”

Keisling is giving an opinion. Other Canadian media reported that Talackova had signed a document stating that she was born anatomically female (not sure of the actual wording though).
She lied on her submission form. She was disqualified for submitting a false form. I believe that this rule is in the International Miss Universe qualifications?

Talackova was disqualified because she was born with male genetalia and lied on the application form. Her words above are manipulative and deceitful as well imo.("disqualified for being born".)

Shemale is a very offensive term to many transgendered women. She is a woman, just a transgendered one. How would you feel if you woke up in a woman's body tomorrow, but you still felt like a man? Because you are physically a woman then, that doesn't take away your manhood. Transgendered people deal with their mind not matching their body and it is an incredible hardship that many can't begin to understand.

But you do, Job? I was not trying to disparage, so please forgive me for the wrong use of a word. By the way, a cross dresser is considered transgendered also. I just feel too much levity is given to people and especially when they intentionally try to manipulate their way into a traditional event.

Actually trangendered is reserved for those who see themselves as their genetic gender. You are thinking of a transvestite dear. It isn't manipulating a traditional event, it is just recognizing these transgendered women for what they are, women.

Yes she is a woman in every sense of the word NOW. But not when she was born in a physical sense. That's why she had the gender reassignment surgery etc.

On Friday, the pageant organization broke its silence regarding the issue stating, "She did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form."
She manipulated by deceit.

Maybe her publicity might get the rules reviewed to include transgendered though? You never know, some good might come of it. If they ignore the gender on the birth certificates, ALL women could take part. (Pretty ones.lol).

Gear, I don't know how it is in Canada, but here in the U.S. you can get your gender changed on your birth certificate after gender reassignment surgery. She has already gone through her whole transition. The whole thing sounds fishy to me and I really doubt we are getting the whole story. I really doubt that there is a rule that you have to be born female, unless they have made revisions in more recent years since the competitions creation. I think that more likely there is a rule that you have to be female, but then again I don't know for sure. I also really doubt if it is asked on the paper work for entering if you were born female. I bet it just asks if you are female. Then again, I don't know for sure.

transgendered: noun1. a person appearing or attempting to be a member of the opposite sex, as a transsexual or habitual cross-dresser

what do I know, I just follow the labels the dictionary puts out.

A person is only transgenderd when they see themselves as the opposite gender/are trying to be the opposite gender. That is way more than cross-dressing. Plenty of men who see themselves as men cross-dress. If you are trying to be a member of the opposite sex that is going WAY beyond just cross-dressing. You may want to look up transvestite. Most people who cross-dress are NOT trying to be the opposite gender.

As I understand it, in Canada changing your gender on your birth certificate is a provincial and territorial decision and each province /territory has slightly different rules. There is at present no Federal process as birth certificates fall under the provincial/territorial control. There is still to be a Supreme Court of Canada or provincial Supreme Courts decision of gender and transexualism. As I understand it, there is no case before the courts at this time challenging anything to do with transsexualism and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms section 15. I have heard that there is discussion going on in the transexual group about creating such a court challenge in Canada or provinces/territories. This woman may be part of that attempt to challenge the courts and Charter? Could it be a set up? (maybe)

Changing your gender on your birth certificate is a different matter than answering a question on your anatomical sex at birth.

Doubt all you want Jobel. Does anyone have the international Miss Universe rules?

Actually I agree with everything you said. I am all for people being who they want to be, and what not, but this woman lied to enter a traditional event that have been around for ages. And they had every right to boot her out of the competition, based on the fact she lied, and physically she was born with a penis. I really hope she's successful in whatever she's does, though.

Just because I want to be man sometimes, and play sports, should I go out on the football fields with the likes of Tim Tebow, Reggie Bush, and T.O.?

"Most people who cross dress are NOT trying to be the opposite sex?" Well, that just blew out all conventions that I would think even cross dressers are trying to achieve.

Obviously you don't know too many cross-dressers, I know quite a few, about 10 (all are males) . All of them see themselves as men even when they cross dress and are not trying to be women . It is way different wearing woman's clothing for different reasons. Being transgendered is a way different issue. I know two transgendered people both were born physically females and are in different points in their physical transitions to males. They are males in their mind and just working on the outside to fit who they already are. I sometimes like to wear my husbands underwear, wear strap-ons, ect., but I in no way see myself as male even when I am playing a male role. I am 100% female in mind and body.

One interesting point has been raised is that she has previously entered a beauty pagent in Thailand called Miss International Queen. The competition is for transexuals and transgendered ONLY.
