4643Did we used to have a page/article on this on the old site? I can't recall.

But there is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale

And the Klein grid is basically the Kinsey scale extended into different types of attraction, as well as the past, present and ideal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klein_Sexual_Orientation_Grid

The scale is as follows:

Rating
Description

0
Exclusively heterosexual

1
Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual

2
Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual

3
Equally heterosexual and homosexual

4
Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual

5
Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual

6
Exclusively homosexual

X
Non-sexual

Hi Drew,

I've been meaning to ask this for a while now.

If the Kinsey Scale goes from 0 to 6 (as you cite above, and as I believe is the case), then why in our profiles do the choices for Kinsey Scale ratings range from 1 to 7?

Obviously, it's far from a priority, but can that be shifted easily enough?

This refinement of the kinseyscale taking taking into account account the work by Klein is my favourite test.

Well, colour me embarassed. :oh: Good catch. I'll see what I can do about changing that.

http://www.youngsouthampton.org/youngpeople/advice/relationships/kleingrid.aspKewl. Got a 2.24, but I answered distant past (instead of 12 months ago). I may have gotten closer to 3, otherwise. I`m still only bicurious; emotionally closer to men, sexually closer to women. But, in both cases, only incrementally so.

Drew, if you made the "exclusively homosexual" side white you would be correct! I am assuming that blue means BI status. "exclusively homosexual" status should have no blue whatsoever! Am I correct in that assumption?

the white represents opposite sex attraction, the blue represents same sex attraction, so its covering the sexuality primary and secondary attractions.... the blue and white in the same square, represents the bisexual people, the complete blue and white represent the heterosexual and homosexual person

Either something's wrong with my browser or the test but I scored a perfect 0...twice., regardless how I answered.

I also got the same score no matter how I answered.

Am I correct in that assumption? To be honest, I don;t know about the colours. I "stole" that image from from wikipedia. But I think, technically, the numbers should go 0 to 6, not 1 to 7, as we have on the profiles here.

I took the version of the test that bikiniman provided the link to---and this time---even though in the past few years I have been with more males than females----the test results this time are consistent with the times I have taken it in the past--I scored 2.19 this time--which comes out to be "mostly heterosexual but more than incidentally homosexual"---so even though my sexual activity level with other guys has increased from the past and my sexual activity with females is much less at present---I have not even reached the midpoint of the scale to be rated fully bisexual.

To me---I think that this consistency in the test results does go to show that it does have a high degree of validity and that even if one's behavior seems to have significantly changed, when other factors are considered--it takes a very major shift in both attitudes and behavior to register a significant change in one's underlying nature.

While I may now engage in more sex with guys than ladies, my basic underlying philosophy, feelings and such about what is my ideal situation---namely that I think its fine, natural, desireable, etc. to have both sexual and/or "romantic" relationships with both females and males is a pretty well set part of my makeup--even if I have not come close to reaching my ideal goal in being able to freely have such relationships with those of both genders.

2.57. I don't see how having sex with women mostly in the past has anything to do with it. Or just men for the last 12months. Or what lifestyle has to do with it!..yada yada...moan...complain...yada.yada...if I start going to gay bars every Thursday maybe I'll get that '3'? Lol.

I figured that with my most recent answers to questions regarding who I have sex with now and what sort of porn I mostly watch---with answers to those questions being that I have had more sex lately with men than women and almost exclusively watch gay porn when I do look at porn---that would have boosted my score up more towards the bisexual and even the gay side--but shit---I think I actually scored lower on the scale this time than I have done in the past!! Go figure that one!!

I took the test ans scored 5.29, mostly gay/incidently heterosexual. Makes sense since most of my sexual encounters have been same sex for years.

I scored 1.2...probably a good account of where I'm at. Have only recently (past 6 months) even begun to admit to myself and my gf that I am "bi-curious". I've spent a lot more of my "porn time" checking out the bi-sexual stuff tho and am anxious to give it a try!!!! She's maybe a bit more anxious to watch me to do so!!!

2.86...lol but its hard to exclude the sexual aspect of it for me and thats a issue as I am asexual natured, or in simple terms I live without sex.... but I am attracted to and love both genders and can have sex with both genders
