I had to delete a couple of threads today, this is why...
I want to be able to take donations on the new site (going to create a "Friends of Bisexual.com" membership level), and the credit card people had a problem with those two threads. I know... at least one of them was simply referencing a news story, nothing more. And I am sure we won't have to be that strict ongoing, but when a credit card company tells you to jump, you simply ask "how high sir?"
And I will probably delete this thread in a few days since I am implying that I won't be as strict ongoing. ;)
Anyway, for the next week or two at least, we are all going to have to pretend we are in church, no, bad example, that would be even more filthy... a PG rated movie, yeah, that's it, think like we are in a theater watching a PG-rated or A14-rated movie. No references even to watersports or non-consensual sex.

Hey Max
I think that what drew is responding to is that some people said that they would like to donate to bi.com but there was no procedure to donate. Drew said that he would look into finding a way. I think that the site will remain free for most things? Drew will explain later if there are any site benefits for these supporters. Chill. I'm pretty sure that it is remaining a free site.
Ok..no watersports. Consensual sex (which is not the same as monogamy...) only.:tong:
Anything else?

Drew,
Perhaps I am of the single minded thought...this is YOUR site. Not mine, nor Volty's, or Kates, or Frances's or ANYONE else. YOU have to do what YOU see fit to continue in your role as owner and operator of this site. Perhaps many of us here forget what you have done to maintain this site. More power to you and THANK YOU for all you do for US.

No Belle ur right.. it is Drew's site... disconcerting thing is that an external agency can insist on censorship of our dicussions.. thin end of the wedge maybe? Buckle down once and next time? There may very well be... who can tell... I wait with baited breath...
..an do ya live in the smoke now, Drew? Or just ova for a lil hol or/and biz?

Nope. You will still have all the same features, and some new ones, for free.
Video chat and maybe some other expensive-to-run bonus features will be paid - we'll see how it goes.

Strange that you should find a church even more filthy than this site that you own, where anything seems to go.
In which case you will not want one of the habitual denizens of those 'filthy churches' soiling your nice clean web site. I find your remark offensive, so I will bid you and your web site adieu, and leave you to the tender mercies of Mammon.

I think Drew was making a joke and people need to lighten up. He made a clear post regarding why the threads were removed so he can get the credit card company to set up on the other site. They objected so he asked us to not post non consenual sex, ie the one thread that was removed referred to something about ultrasounds being classed as a sexual offence and water sports the other thread name was watersports related but not the content.
please guys just lighten up and let Drew get the other site completely set up so all the options people have requested might come to fruition. thanks.

DD you are talking shite, The thread enttitled GOLDEN SHOWER was a NEWS RELATED ARTICLE whose contents were about urinating. I choose imaginative titles for my threads to try and stimulate interest e.g a thread entitled bowel movement was eff all to do with scat but about music.... I know you have a compulsion to answer EVERY single thread posted, but please read threads prior to passing comment on them.

No, Max, I'm not it was the NAME not the content of the thread as was posted by Drew in his original post on this thread. The other was near the top at the time he removed it, the one you are referencing was not near the top. that made a difference apparently.

Posting Rules:
Generally I am not a "rules person", but experience with various internet communities has taught me that rules are necessary, even on a site that is all about about sexual freedom such as Bisexual.com. So here they are:
1. Don't post your personal ad here. They just clutter up the forums. By far the best thing to do if you are looking to meet people is create a quality personal ad under your "My Account" control panel. These ads then show up highlighted to people in your area.
2. Be polite - flame the idea if you feel you must, but not the person.
3. Sexual freedom is what it's all about, but even it should have limits - discussions of non-consensual sex, violence and sex, or sex involving children are not welcome here, will be promptly deleted, and the poster may be banned.
4. Have fun. Learn. Share. Entertain. Discuss. Argue. Enlighten.

So then we add, '5. Obey the whims of credit card companies.' ? I have no problem with no discussion of non-consensual sex, violence and sex, or sex involving children. These are understandable and valid. I even appreciate debating an idea and not a person. Have not posted a personal in the forums.
The idea of being censored from an external source bodes not well.
May as well support SOPA & PIPA if you follow such a course. Which means anyone speaking dissent of these may likely be considered 'enemy combatant' or 'terrorist'. I have not spoken dissent until now. Government censorship of the Internet and Web is a terribly bad idea. It grants the corporate oligarchy further control, upon the level of Catholics vs. Pagani.

'Tis so Voidie.. just show wot thought does forya.. issue of concern? 2 rite it is....
"Think you can or cannot, either way you're correct." -- Henry Ford
"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell. " -- Buddha
"The mind is everything. What you think you become." -- Buddha
"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path." -- Buddha
"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world." -- Buddha
What else thought may bring. And this is why I am trying to ignore all the politic/religion/war talk. I do not desire granting it power or control. If I do not think of it, it ceases. Again, "what if they had a war but nobody showed up?"
Sorry, I'm going be too busy living my opulent life to go fight war. I'll be too busy counting trillions of dollars in my bank account. I'll be too busy owning successful businesses that provide a valued service to my fellow man for war.
Everyone can do the same, too. There is more than enough for all. The greatest secret to it is there are no great secrets. Ask, believe, receive as simple as that. Yes, I notice the issue. I speak simply and truly, directly. I'm finished. The issue has no more power. I have other things to enjoy.
Presently, I am focusing on creating an eternal income stream. This means me and my family will constantly have money. Money is used to pay for services, goods. It is not the ends but part of the means.
Another part of the means is an idea I have regarding laundry here locally. Our local laundromat has declined terribly. Someone needs to provide a better one. Why not me? Ask for an opportunity to generate income. Believe it will be, and there it is. Receive it and continue being grateful, happy. More will come. :)
So, yes it's about thought creating worlds. I'll go create mine. You go create yours. If yours is full of sorrow, anger, grief there's no one but you to blame. You asked for it, weather you know you did or not. Get your mind free of all of it, think about happiness, think of prosperity. It will come.
Forgive, move forward. Nothing exists except for Now. Create what you desire.

As the wise and beautiful Belle said...you do what's best for Drew. We who support you and the site will remain. Those who choose to can go.

The friends that we've met here have become precious to us. This site has truly been a positive factor in our lives. And we thank you for everything that you do.

I'm sorry to see you go, I think Drew was referring to some of the threads that OTHER people have created like "What is the most outrageous place you've ever done X?"
Even though every person on here must already be over 18, maybe it would be nice on the new site to have an "Adults only" forum thread for people who want to discuss that sort of hardcore .. stuff ..
.. stuff .. happens, if you want to have a business relationship with certain entities then you have to come to an agreement..that's how the real world works. Personally I wouldn't be too keen on using a credit card processor that didn't have a sense of morals. It's funny that it's just those two threads when clearly we have a lot more content that straight laced folks might find objectionable..

You may not believe it but I too will miss the daft old bugger... sure I disagreed with him at least as much as I ever agreed, but that is unimportant.. he cared enough to contribute and has much to offer and we should never so alienate anyone who is even remotely on our side that we isolate them from the rest of us.. there is enough of that in these forums as it is..
I regret Dark has taken the attitude he has and do hope he returns once he has considered things in the cold light of day.. I can admire principle born of belief as well as any on site... in this instance I do think he has taken Drew's comment out of context but that is for Dark to make a decision on, not any of us... we, each of us, see people differently, Pepper, but that shouldn't mean we dont regret their decision to leave..

Good bye and good luck, Drew. It was something while visiting. No longer desire associated with the site. There are several various reasons of merit. The issue of the CC company being one. Another is a prevailing attitude which exists now, and did not before.
There is no one thing but a culmination of many, leading me to believe the site will never be what it once was, or better. So, I am out of here. Again, glad to have shared in something for a while. No, I don't think a 'break' will cut it. I'm gone for good. Good luck.

Interesting bunch of posts. The posts brings a thought to mind.
Suddenly threads have been deleted.
If the site had been moderated to begin with would the thread deletion have been better received?
Drew was open and honest about what he did and has gotten some really juvenile responses. Should the threads have been deleted sooner?
Should the threads have been left and allowed to threaten the entire site?
Last question Who the hell owns this site? Bitching Members or Drew

Expressing concern that outside bodies can can insist on censoship of the site over money is juvenile is it? Forgive me if I beg to differ... Some of us think freedom of speech and expression far more important than a few sheckels...

the simple option is a choice, speak as free as you want and cost others the perks of the new site..... or practise some self control and allow others to gain....
its a simple choice.... and shows the difference between those that think of themselves first, and those that think of the benefits to the site

I try to stay out of a lot of the controversy that rolls through here but Drew has the same reality we all have. The site costs money to maintain and at a certain point his choices are to shut it down or find a way to pay to keep it running. I understand this and appreciate his maintaining things they way he has to this point. If he had to make this choice and asks us to be cool long enough for the situation to pass it is not a lot to ask. The other choice nobody suggested while talking about censorship was alternate ways of getting past the problem like helping him with contributions to keep it running without the credit card company. There is another potential option but it means pulling out our wallets / purses. Thank you Drew and no I do not plan to go anywhere.

When it comes to Drew taking down any posts that he and his management team deem inappropriate on here--that is fine---the site belongs to them and they can do as they please.
I can understand that he is going to add some premium services that fees will needed to be charged, which will not only help pay for those things and for the site in general---but it is kind of a bummer that the credit card services company he is using sees fit to seek the removal of postings they don't like---it seems that such a request, demand or however it was put to him do so, restricts his freedom to operate the site as he sees fit.
On the one hand that on an adult sexual site, that company sought the removal of a thread that was sexual in nature, no matter the content is troublesome----you would think with all of the multitude of sexual sites of all sorts that charge all kinds of fees, he could find a credit card company that doesn't have a problem with sexual things.
I am especially troubled that the company also sought the removal of a thread that was a response to an actual news story with political overtones.
I do have to wonder if that cc processing company will object in the future to similar sorts of politically related stories and ask that they also be removed as well?
The prospect of an outside service provider imposing restrictions here because for whatever reason they don't agree with some topic or issue---is a very troubling and chilling prospect to consider.
I do guess that change has come to our little virtual community. Some changes on here are surely welcome, but I guess it is a case of "watch what you ask for--you might get it but in ways that you didn't expect or will not like very much!"
