I'm posting this because I was inspired by Gearbox's recent comment in another thread
I'm sure some have a fetish for posting on threads
saying not to post on threads.
Dear God! Cum already yu pervy buggers!
Gearbox was using humour to get across a very serious point regarding 'post police'.
What is this current trend over policing posts? e.g.
"This post is deserving, this post isn't deserving.."or
"This post has had too many replies already..." or
"This post contains unsuitable subject matter....don't respond, don't encourge the OP.." or
"Don't be manipulated by the OP to respond like this or like that..."
WTF? It never used to be like this. Since we seem to have a lot of new members I just want to be clear about encouraging them to post and not feeling it has to appeal to everyone.
If you don't like a post, don't contribute to it. I don't care whether someone decides that a post has had too many responses, because the subject matter doesn't thrill them. Stop hijacking posts by telling people they're not worthy posts! Stop mediating my browsing experience like a net nanny.
Create your own post about unworthy posts in that case. Your OWN post. You might not find a post interesting...so just read the next one...
I don't need to be nannied on www.bisexual.com. We come here to find a place without censure...where we can dip in and out of whatever we choose.. let the moderators take care of offensive content...let them decide on what goes.
Sure I might find an idea disagreeable and I might say so in reply. But the idea of posting something shouldn't be a problem, or that posts should have to appeal to the masses.
I often talk about the fact that I don't like all those cock and pussy topics littered around the board, but usually I just leave them be, or I don't read them...I don't post on them to to say to others...."too many responses already, lets move on..."
(partly because sometimes I know I'm going to want to comment...and I just want to leave the door open a bit) ;)
If you think a post is crap, good for you. Not everyone might agree.
Police youself. Not others.
Please
And Gearbox....you can police me anytime.. xx
PS if you don't agree with me, please comment.
If you don't agree with me posting, read the next post.
