Marvel Comics announced last week that will be ending the run of Daken: Dark Wolverine, the company’s only LGBT solo lead comic book.
Comic Book Resources reports that on Friday Marvel editor in chief Axel Alonso revealed the character’s cancellation, which is expected to end with February’s issue 21
Well at least he was visible...and cute :)

Seems par for the course since Disney bought Marvel. Marvel killed Capt. America as well, why not kill further diversity, create a "good wholesome family image"?

I wouldn't read too much into it. According to this article the simple truth is that the comic hasn't been selling well.

And with Marvel, "cancellation" is nowhere near the same as "killing off." Chances are the character will end up on some team or another.

based around what I know.... draken is not the only comic that is failing, there are a few others that not *making the grade * in terms of production and profit value.....
there have been a number of heterosexual, bi / gay and lesbian characters that have been * retired * colossus being one that I loved ( x men character )

The comic industry is having to really revamp itself. It has spent a decade being very dark (Marvel especially) and tackling some very difficult topics. The heads of Marvel have stated that they want to do a return to Golden Age style of story telling where we get to have fun with our favorite characters again, rather than have them be embroiled in things like Civil War, the fallout of Steve Rogers dying, and all of the war on terror analogies.
Daken could have made it, except that he was yet another tortured soul character, and the market has been flooded with them for the past 10 years. That he was a bisexual Wolverine knockoff rather than a fully realized character unto himself didn't help.

yeah he died and was resurrected etc...
ultimate xmen universe, he is in love with northstar, who is another gay superhero
so yeah, depending on what universe you are in, their sexuality changes and if they are alive or die :tong::tong:
mystique, colossus and wolverine in the xmen comics... lol a teenage boys penthouse....lol

OMG!!! Marvel hates bisexuals!!! As we speak, they're putting together extermination squads to kill everyone who isn't perfectly straight!!! Run for the hills! By all means, feel oppressed! Disney and Marvel are bigots, hell bent on the destruction of all that isn't on par with their idea of what's wholesome and family appropriate! Even though Disney has been on the side of tolerance for years and years.
Or maybe the comic wasn't selling worth a shit, so they didn't want to put more money into it. So, they're making a financially based decision. Well, that's a republican/conservative mentality. And by not wanting to waste money on a comic that isn't selling, they're making a conscious effort to single out and discriminate against the entire LGBT community, aren't they?
And we all know by now that conservatives/republicans all hate the entire LBGT community, right? A capitalist society where freedom is protected is a good thing, isn't it? Of course it is, as long as individuals and companies don't have the freedom to do what they want, if their agenda doesn't fall in line with the LGBT community's agena!!! Wait a second... Is that a contradiction? Yes, it is.
It seems the LGBT community wants the public to have their freedom and their right to have and express their own opinions until someone does something that pisses off said LGBT community. If a privately owned company doesn't want to continue to publish a comic that features a bisexual character, so fucking what? That's the choice of that company, whatever their motives are.
In all seriousness, it seems more and more that the LGBT community is ridiculously hypocritical. Like it's OK for one to have his/her freedom to form their own opinion, but only if it falls in line with the liberal agenda.
Time to make a choice, people of America. Freedom or not? To preach freedom but then raise hell because a privately owned company cancels a comic (a decision that may or may not be driven by "moral" reasons) is ridiculously hypocritical!!!
Here's an idea. If you're a male and like cock, play with the cock and shut the fuck up about it. If you're a female and like pussy, play with the pussy and shut the fuck up about it.
This need to feel oppressed and to "rise up" against the "powers that be" is fucking sickening. Mind your fucking business and let others' mind theirs.
If you're really that desperate for a sense of belonging, join a fucking club.

I dont think asking for a fair crack of the whip is unreasonable.. Im not fussed about the cancellation of a comic in the least.. maybe the real reasons for it... but mind my own business? Gladly, and if and when I do, they mind theirs which they wont... they didnt over several millenia of oppression why should they start now?

Point blank, lay off the crack.
I have not bought comic books for years. No longer have any desire to read them, or collect. My post above was in the spirit of "ho hum".
Shit happens, world keeps spinning. I could care less what mainstream does. It's never been too concerned with me, either. Nothing hypocritical there. Just is what it is.
By the by, I'm not liberal, evolutionary maybe but not liberal. I refuse your sloppy attempts to label my political 'agenda'. The only 'agenda' I support is autonomy via anarchy and only in a peaceful pacifist means. Gentle streams crumble mountains back into the seas.
Again, lay off the crack, it kills.

At least I did not brandish the T word, despite feeling such at work. Even if it was there is nothing to worry over. Not a bit upset here, just is what is. Oh well ...

I buy this comic and I thought they handled Daken's sexuality tactfully. he's a bit of a con artist and will sleep with anyone to move his agenda forward.
i'm more upset at the cancellation in that the character may be going the way of the dodo too. Based on recent events that makes sense.

I was never a big comic book fan but it doesn't surprise me to see another industry being ruined by the proliferation of electronic media. All around bookstores, music stores and comic book stores are going under because in this day and age of recession recovery food becomes more important than the things we once bought without blinking.
