Okay, first let me say 2008 was a very weird year for me, did a lot of travel between Louisville and Elizabethtown shuttling kids for visits to their dad. I got a ticket on one occasion and flat forgot about it. Apparently they sent a nice little notice from the Department of Transportation about suspending my license while I was in New Zealand. I got it and thought it was on the other matter that had been taken care of so didn't pay attention. Went along my merry way driving when I needed to with no clue license was suspended.

So after the fire on May 2nd I had to go get my license again to be told it was suspended. After many phone calls, found out it was ticket in Bullit County, paid it, paid the reinstatement fee and finally had a means to go get license today cause Mom was off work. Found out I needed a vision test and written exam cause it was two years or more since license was good. Was worried as hell about the written exam cause they have changed a few laws in the almost 20 years since I had originally taken it. Turns out didn't need to be. Never even got to take it. Failed the vision test.

Ky law states you must have at least 20/40 in each eye to have a license. I got 20/40 in one and 20/70 in the other. So I am now wearing glasses and seeing much more clearly, I was nearsighted but they are even helping me with reading and things now. Biggest downside is my insurance would cover exam but I had to buy the glasses. Fending off my mother who kept trying to get me to get frames she liked even though they looked like shit on me, I finally found a decent pair and hope I never have to go glasses shopping with my mother again.

So in conclusion..........getting old sucks.

I have an image in my mind of a pair of multicolour, winged, and jewelled Dame Edna Everage spectacles - these as chosen by mum.

I smile with you, not laugh at you Possum.

ROFL, reading the responses to this I can see why LDD was so nice to me when I sent him the pic of me in glasses. AND NO I WILL NOT BE SHARING, my dad was mean and took it when i first got up so I look awful.

Love you too, LDD and will add the smack you need to my list so when I get there I can take care of all the little things :)

Thanks y'all, going tomorrow to get my license since my new glasses make me see 20/20 so I only have to worry about the written test, but it should be pretty easy, found a site online and was practicing a bit.

Woot got my license, since the pic turned out decent I might post it at some point when I'm not on dialup :)

The examiner guy was laughing cause I got started 10 minutes behind a bunch of teens in there taking tests on the computer and finished 10 minutes ahead for both parts, the general questions and the sign test. I just smiled and said well the last time I took a written test it was actually on paper :)

DD, I failed my first driving test, at 16, because I was driving with one hand and was waving at my friends! The examiner wrote on my test sheet that I should not be allowed to drive until I was 40! I went to another testing station the next time, to ensure I didn't get the same examiner!

As for your glasses, they barely are visible in your photos. I think many people look good in glasses!

Boats, Like Pepperjack said, I never expected to live this long!

And Cat, you Have been ridden hard and put up wet! Hey, that's not a bad thing....at least you've LIVED, Girl!

Fran, I know you're fighting it, but your youth will pass before you realize it! Why, it seems that only last week I was 20! Damn, I'd love to do it all over again, just one more time!

I wouldn't say mutton dressed as lamb, Aunty Flan. Possibly a cow who is a little more than a heifer but not quite ready for the abattoir..

LMAO Realist, thanks, that was the look I was going for, they are barely visible in real life as well. I don't like them, but more because with my peripheral vision I can see the "glasses" unless I'm looking straight ahead. But I'm not too vain to admit that wearing them lets me see everything clearer.

Huggles Fran, but you get no sympathy from me on the covering gray hair. I've had to do that since I was 17 years old, the trade off is that I have very thick hair, my grandfather on my dad's side was totally white by the time he was 22 and he died with a head full of thick hair that was a beautiful snowy white.

Side note, I asked my hair dresser last time at what point do people have to stop saying they are dyeing hair back to natural color because at some point when the grey outnumbers other hair the natural color is grey. She just laughed and said "good question".

LOL HeHe Ya Tart, Your doing the normal Hyperopia thing and yer distance vision will get worse along with your near vision as ya get a few more years down the road and not only will you need to wear em ALL the TIME, but they will be a multi-focals sooner than us poor, abused near-sighted folks. We took shit as kids ("Four Eyes") but as I sit here with no need for glasses to read the computer, Myopic Revenge is sweet. Muah ha ha ha :tong: :compuser:

DD,

If you only saw the list of meds I have to take and my up and coming Medical tests for my current health issue. You would be asking me if I bought stock in Geritol Complete or Centrum Silver. :tong:

Have had "coke bottle bottom" glasses since I was 12...nearsighted as a bat they used to say...now thanks to modern technology I have super slim "normal" looking glasses only to need bifocals and/or trifocals...starting going grey by 35 and by 40 was all white on top and now (if I don't shave it) am going grey "down there"...LOL. Like some said, the alternative isn't attractive to me either but I sure have enjoyed being rode hard (and riding some hard) then being put away wet.... mileage? ha the odometer broke years ago but who cares, I still like finding tight garages to park it in (and out and in) and still manage to scrape the fenders..firm believer in if you don't use it you may lose it. As Bob Hope used to say, "thanks for the memories" and here's to making many more.:male: :three:

I hear ya, Littleray, I had a dental appointment and of course they wanted a complete medical history. All the boxes with lots of stuff to check if you EVER had, so I did. Kidney problems, check, had stones. Stomach problems, yep whenever I'm sick. Lung problems, yep that's why I'm on disability now. Breathing problems? goes hand in hand with lung problems....... you get the idea. Spent a good 10minutes going over the stuff and ascertaining that I wasn't there for those issues, I was there for a toothache....IN a dental office, imagine that. :tong:
