I am 55 YOA and next week is my annual physical exam. I have no known health issues but I do have an E.D. problem and I am gonna ask for a prescription to help. I have tried those OTC Herbal stuff from the Health Food store but they don't work.
My question is: What should I ask for ? Viagra, Cialis, Cialis for Daily use or Lavitra. I know some of you should be able to fill me in Thanks

Honestly, Doorman, DO NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING. Let your doctor examine you, discuss your concerns and follow his or her recommendations. Many of the medications you mention have a lot of side affects. There are lots of reasons for E.D., let your doctor explain them for you rather than seeking a miracle cureall that may not work for you.

This is something you should talk to your doctor about and nobody else.

I do not have this issue but I do know men who do and some couldn't take a certain medication because they were on other ones or because of side effects of the medication.

The authentic medications tend to give a side effect which is nasal congestion and a slight headache. These are side effects given by the manufacturers. Not a problem unless you have trouble with e.g. sleep apnoea. You shouldn't take erection enhancing drugs if you have heart problems such as angina and / or suffered any significant Myocardial Infarction.

Viagra gives about two hour's worth of enhancement. Cialis can last for over a day, maybe two - i.e. a relatively long time with a stuffy nose and mild headache.

Sudafed, aspirin and a bit of eye and nasal irrigation can help matters but Sudafed counteracts the erection facilitating drugs.

Your doctor should be aware of these matters and wisely you have been advised to leave the advice to him / her.

In the operating theatre I asked the lead doctor whether there was an option of a pump up penis - yes there was and one would acquire a third 'testicle' in the process. I then asked about a puncture repair outfit, just in case. One explored also the possiblity of catastrophic faliure such as occurs in the blow up parrot scene in one of the Inspecter Clouseau movies - "Thar she blows!". The English staff fell about laughing while the Thai support staff looked very puzzled.

It's true I tell you - I was there.

I agree with those who are saying you should consult your Doctor but I will share my personal experience.

I have tried all 3 of the common ED meds with mixed results. Most of these drugs were originally developed to treat pulmonary hpyertension some the nasal stuffiness that they can give you is from that aspect. On a side note, when I first started trying these drugs I weighed 270 lb.s and was having impotence issues. I am now 190 lb.s and things are working like they did at 17 so consider improving your general health as an option.

Viagra. It works well for me but it is expensive and not covered by insurance. Getting 100mg tabs and taking them half at a time helps a little. The stuffy nose side effect is the only one I ever experienced. Onset of action is about 20-30 minutes and it lasts for me 4-6 hours. I tried taking a 100mg tab once instead of half and experienced some minor shortness of breath for about an hour. As I am a paramedic I was not concerned and did not seek medical help.

Cialis. Tried Dr's free sample so I can't comment on cost. This one worked but only half as well as Viagra and I got a terrible low back ache that lasted 3 days. This is a common side effect of this med. The supposed advantage of Cialis is that is supposed to work for 24 hours, but when your back hurts that bad sex is probably not high on your 'to do' list.

Levitra. Tried Dr's sample. It had no effect on me whatsoever.

If you have cardiac issues and use Nitroglycerin you may not use these meds without risk of a fatal drop in blood pressure. This can also occur from using 'popper' inhalants popular in the gay community such as amyl nitrate or isobutyl nitrites so play safe boys and girls!

Definitely talk to the doc!

A lot of the time the altitude is all attitude...

When my wife and I were going through some difficult times, I started having a harder time getting hard and had a few failures.. I considered going to the doc..

But, first... I relaxed and stopped worrying about it and things got better and lo and behold, boing! The problem resolved itself.

Much depends on your physical health.

Levitra was designed specifically for men with the combination of high cholesterol and type II diabetes. It works for me. Side effects for me are the stuffy nose, headache and bluing of the vision and lasts about 4 hours. Loses it's effectiveness with the consumption of fatty food.

Cialis had absolutely no effect whatsoever for me.

Viagra - worked great for the advertised 4-6 hours, however the side effects (same as Levitra) were pretty intense. Looses it's effectiveness with the consummation of alcohol.

I also discovered that ibuprofen, if taken regularly can cause ED and also reduce the effectiveness of all of these.

And once again, talk to your doctor!

been thought this before, viagra cost 133 dollars 100 mg for six pills at walgreens. i ask my doctor for a generic brand they email the prescriptions to walgreens where i get my meds from. when i got there it was a 133 dollars tax and all, i ask to the lady for a generic viagra , walgreens don't handle a generic viagra or generic ed meds at all .. i buy then on the street (FROM A friend) for 10 dollars 100 mg and there good i wait up with a hard on ready to fuck... my x wife use to carry one with her for ladies night out. i dont ask questions just come home with a smile, be ready to fuck

After using Cialis a few times I found out I could get hard again without using anything. But, I also found out that 1/2 of a 10 mg Cialis would insure that I got hard quicker and stayed really hard all during sex. I have never had any side effects other than a pain in the wallet. Note: the pain goes away dring ejaculation.

Regarding drug prices.... the patents are running out on a lot of the high priced drugs and soon generics will be available. But do not buy any prescription drugs off the street, not only is it illegal but it's also dangerous to your health.

I agree that you should discuss it fully with your doctor and follow his/her recommendations. That being said, I have used all of the "normal" ED medications, Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis. They all worked as claimed and I was satisfied with the results of each medication. Viagra and Levitra both took about an hour to work for me. Cialis was a little quicker, about 15-20 minutes. Several months ago I saw an ad on television that Cialis was offering a free trial of the regular pill or the daily dose. I decided to give the daily dose a try and absolutely love it. I take it every morning and I am ready to go at the drop of a hat anytime. It is a little on the expensive side...$125 per month but the "take as needed" ones are very expensive also, each being between $175 and $200 for 10 tablets. So, if you have sex more than 10 times a months you would be ahead financially to go with the daily dose. Fortunately, I have had no side affects with any of the ED medications. Again, your doctor will know what is best for you but these are my experiences. Good Luck!
