View Full Version : Just for Fun! How did you come up with your username?

hgf33
Jul 22, 2011, 10:22 AM
My best friend is a lesbian. I called her my big gay friend one day, kinda as a joke, and it stuck! In response, she called me her half gay friend. We shortened it to BGF and HGF, hence the name (and at the time, I couldn't think of anything else!) 33 because my favorite number is 3.

So, how'd you come up with yours? :wiggle2:

Realist
Jul 22, 2011, 10:42 AM
I've wondered the same thing! Several folks here have unique and interesting user names...or handles.

I am a realistic, laid-back fellow; I know that I'm past my prime and have little appeal for others, but I enjoy the discussions that most write here....that's why I chose that handle.

bityme
Jul 22, 2011, 10:48 AM
Mine was rather simplistic. I wanted something that spoke of interest in bisexual time with others. The first time I tried it "Bi_Time" was already taken, so I took out the underscore and changed the spelling of "time." The end result was "BiTyme." Of course, as time went on, the capital letters fell by the wayside.

The lily is my favorite flower, and the Stargazer is my favorite lily, hence the name.

It is typially shortened to Star and very few people knew about the flower connection and assumed the name came from a love of actual star gazing. That works out just fine too, since my (now ex) partner is big into astronomy so I have spent a lot of time actually gazing at stars. I did end up sticking with that idea when I added the picture. lol

The numbers on the end were just random, though since they are in a vertical line on the number pad it makes for an easy login.

Being a both bi couple who enjoy oral times with both sexes, more than once we explained that we lick it. Adopting the name seemed to send the message for us and eliminate the need for anyone to guess about whether or not we would.

dickhand
Jul 22, 2011, 12:12 PM
Mine is my yahoo address name . That came about because on another site I used to be dick in hand . That was already taken so I shortened it to dickhand . That was already taken so I added my birth year . So now it's dickhand1958@yahoo.com and just dickhand1958 everywhere else .

Jul 22, 2011, 12:27 PM
I was on my hands and knees. My wife was getting ready to fuck me with a strapon. she said the view with my balls hanging low like that resembled a goat, so she started calling me Randypan the goat boy.

Trinity-Fl

When we lived as an MMF triad, we liked the name "Trinity" - as in three of anything. Our home was called "Trinity House" because we bought it together. As an inside joke, we had a lot of "threesome" art - paintings, sculpture, nicknacks etc - and we 'd challenge guests to find them when they visited. :)

And, we lived in Florida. So - trinity-fl as a nickname.

Although we're not still a triad we still believe that the 3sum (especially an MFM 3sum) is an ideal relationship. We've known a few long lasting FMFs but they seem less workable to us.

We still have an occasional male guest. It's a part of our life we enjoy.

Trinity-fl we are and will remain. :)

ErosUrge
Jul 22, 2011, 2:43 PM
I wanted something that would cover what it is I feel during moments of excitement and pleasure. So, since Eros is the god of love and desire, it made perfect sense. I included Urge because of the obvious meaning. And Eros can mean love in the deeper meaning of the word or in the impulse to have pleasure without love....add Urge to the mix and it all falls together nicely...and since desire essentially is genderless and applies to both sexes, it works for that reason too.

Jul 22, 2011, 2:51 PM
Because my hubby is the most amazing human being that I've ever had the privilege of being loved by. In this life and with this love I am 'by~his~side'.

We considered bi~his~side but I'm not sure that I'm bi.
So we stuck with what we are sure of.

Mine came from my days in porn trading, it was originally LoungeLizard2000, then got shortened to Lizard (which is now the nickname that even my wife uses for me

But Lizard is too often taken as an ID, so I added the -lix.. which it is totally appropriate since I always lead with my tongue

I first used a Fibonacci sequence that directly related to the cipher used Michelangelo for his decryption transcripts written many years ago - use some Aramaic letters that also appear in old English text. When we as a couple over five years ago, we thought about what we wanted to find and more importantly reflect the people we are so we chose TWOWHOCARE a name we shared. When hubby decided that he wanted his own name...willbeyours, a dear friend suggested that as a couple I was the one who cared...and well it stuck. I always do think of myself as someone who cares so much about other people.

Jul 23, 2011, 7:40 AM
I always admired the wolves, powerful, often solitary creatures with noturn habits than can be amazingly beautiful and a kind of misterious. So it cames the Wolf. There were many so I needed to add a suffix and I included Sr for senior. Still wasn't unique for a hotmail account, so I added something more related to the country I come from. But here Wolf_sr is enough. Anyway I am not aware if wolves behave bi-sexually, if you know tell me.

When I was free of my 2nd wife, to whom I was faithful, I was also free to explore and pursue my bi side again. I am not by nature aggressive and I am closeted and prefer to keep it that way. Seeking and meeting other likeminded people (women, men, couples, groups) is best done these days on the internet. Whereas I would be too shy to "cut to the chase" and express my sexual orientation (and attraction) to total strangers in everyday life, I am definitely not shy on the internet ! "cuttin2dachase" is a name I chose to let "total strangers" on the internet know that I am not shy to approach them and that I too am approachable.

Alexander the Great and Hephaestion

"......his dearest and closest friend and confidant was Hephaestion. Theirs was a friendship which had been forged in boyhood. It endured through adolescence, through Alexander's becoming king, through the hardships of campaigning and the flatteries of court life, and their marriages...."

"... descendants of the Dorians were considered and even expected to be openly homosexual, especially among their ruling class, and the Macedonian kings had long insisted on their pure Dorian ancestry."

The alternative? Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

Emotional Masochist
Jul 23, 2011, 7:52 PM
hehe so i have truly enjoyed reading your reasoning behind your names. Mine is something i came up with a long time ago and i use it on most sites im on. Personally i am a bit of a masochist, slowly starting to lean toward the sadistic side.... ehehhehe anyways when i was younger I had a bad habit of falling in love with people i could never have and ended up in relationships that ended terribly. So one of my friends told me it was like i enjoyed the pain... and the emotional masochist was born.

Jul 24, 2011, 3:31 PM
I needed a handle for an IM client and I didn't want to use my real name, I'm not quite sure HOW I settled on "Elian" but it sounded sort of British to me, which I liked at that time in my life, a bit cheeky. They always say that people invent online personalities for themselves (ever send the WRONG Email to your grandma by mistake??) - I guess to some degree that is true for me, I couldn't be the person I wanted to be growing up in a conservative area.

What you guys see is probably the best of what I can contribute - as you might imagine not all days are rainbows and cute *f'king* fluffy kittens... We support each other. Contributing, participating and giving hope to others nurtures my soul too so I am glad to do it.

Of course right around the same time I decided to use that handle Elián González (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eli%C3%A1n_Gonz%C3%A1lez_affair) was big news in the US and so everyone thought I chose the handle for THAT reason. I used to get a few IM's that started out "Hola?" I learned to say "no habla espanol". I think one time I helped a grammar school student in Colombia practice his skills writing in English for a test.

As a teen, while I always had a girl on my arm, I was always very curious about being with men. I owe it to my time in the USMC (long before DADT), when I met bisexual serviceman while overseas. We worked part time off base together, and things just clicked. I still look back fondly on that time.

Hence, had I not spent my time in the service, I probably would not have experienced what I did, and decided to pay homage to it

When I first tried to coin a term that would give a hint of who I am, the thing that seemed most outstanding about myself was how utterly bizarre my life path has been, with its sudden unpredictable detours, and not the ghost of a future plan. Trying to see this in a positive light, the phrase "all who wander are not lost" came to mind. I compressed the phrase and it still clunked, but I could think of nothing better and was in a hurry to sign up.

Later I changed my tag line to "always between worlds", which suits me a lot better (I feel it everywhere, and sometimes the feeling is like being lost, after all.) On OKCupid I am BetweenWorlds, and I would have changed my username here to that, but there are way too many posts here where people are quoting me or referring to me as NotLost (even though I sign everything with my real name) so changing usernames now would create too much confusion.

But nothing expresses my essence better than the stolen artwork of the Sufi spinning between Heaven and Hell, and not paying either much mind.

I have talked of the origin of my name before---but that was ages ago on a long lost post on this board.

Some have thought that I am into electro stimulation or something of that sort---such is not the case--my "handle" on here as they used to say about names people chose for themselves back in the days that CB radios were so popular---comes from in part---a favorite Jimmy Buffett song called "Twelve Volt Man"

For a time---I tended to use the song titles of Jimmy Buffett songs as the names I used at websites--at least from songs from the early days of Jimmy Buffett's career.

I just changed the 12 volt part to the numbers instead of spelling it out as the song title has it--the "59" part is my birth year---so at this point--I am a "Pirate Looking Past 50" toward 60, if the "God Lord is Willin' and the creek Don't Rise!!"

Here is a link to the song on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEiu5yQHYWI and at the page--it tells of the story of the origin of the song---I thought the story itself--whether true or not--to be rather a romantic one--and fitting in with the world Jimmy Buffett lives in--a world I myself for a time in my life--had the good fortune to also live in--places in tropical climes like the Caribbean--I got to explore many parts of that area as a young man---first with friends who had nice sailing boats that I served as a crew member as we went to points south towards the equator----and later courtesy of Uncle Sam.

The music of Jimmy Buffett surely was part of the soundtrack of the journeys I made to places like Barbados, Aruba, the Cayman Islands, the windward and leeward islands.

I did get to, in some small way, live at least a part of my life like a character in a Jimmy Buffett song---I hope that in a few years--I will be able to go back and spend at least a part of the time I have left down here living life like that yet again.

When it comes to the song itself---I do like it--its one of Jimmy's "pretty ones" as I like to call his songs of this sort.

Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate ....

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around...

Well, I think Thin White Duke was already taken.

So, the thinking went like this :

I'm signing up on a Bisexual site where everybody has a screen name mostly designed to protect anonymity (not everyone, but many). Who is the most famous - i.e. not anonymous - Bisexual of the 20th century ? Answer : David Bowie, which is a fake name, so why don't I "be anonymous" with a real Bisexual name - David Jones (birth name of Bowie - David Robert Jones). I just shortened it to Djones for typing/login sake.

Oh bother ...

Well, there was (not sure if still is) a Brit band of the electronica genre who were called Void Dweller. Liked their music. Besides that, while being a soft atheist I am also a bit of Taoist. In Tao lies the void which is reached via the gate-less gate. Many call the place Nirvana, Satori, Heaven, Paradise for me it is simply the void. We all live / dwell in the void if we all live / dwell for one infinite moment, or so many gurus and such tell us. Just a microcosm of a macrocosm here. :)

There was always a mystery surrounding the CSRA on my name....people in chat were always trying to figure out what it means. I'm afraid it's not very exciting....it stands for Central Savannah River Area which is the nickname for Augusta GA and surrounding areas in GA and SC. I was living in Augusta when I joined five years ago and now that I live somewhere else, I decided not to change it.

:wiggle2:

I came up with mine because I am BI and I am really into and look 4 ass play

Melody Dean
Oct 1, 2014, 9:23 AM
Melody Dean is an Amanda Palmer song about her agreement with her ex boyfriend, that they could sleep with someone of the same gender when they were apart. She was overseas and found someone, asked him, and he told her no. Also, I have a couple of friends who call me Mel, short for "martian-mellow," which was a joke I made that was much funnier if you were there at the time.
I get torn to pieces
For the stupidest reasons
All I want's to love the one I'm with
Just like the song says
I never met a lady
Quite as pretty as Melody Dean
And even though I know you are
A little bit angry with me
You know that it is you I love
And you I want to get me off
But you can only do that when you're here
And right now you are not

My old username, Medusa42, came from my nickname in high school. I had really long hair (I could sit on it), and I didn't realize how curly it actually was. I cut it to just below shoulder length about the time puberty hit, and it poofed out. Some friends called me Dandelion, others called me Medusa (I took both as a compliment).
And 42 is The Answer (bonus geek cred to anyone who understands what I'm talking about).

How many roads must a man walk down?

It would've been a lot easier had I known the question.

Mine just popped into my head when I was signing up. man4girlgirl4man - perfect description of my specific type of bisexuality. I love to fuck women but sometimes I shift into gay mode and when I'm gay I'm always the cocksucking bottom slutty bitch boy - a girly boy for the man of my choice. Spontaneous and right on target.

cuttin2dachase
Oct 1, 2014, 3:48 PM
@ Melody Dean aka Medusa 42: Being both a sports fan and a sci-fi fan, I would say 42 is either a reference to Jackie Robinson or to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". I would guess it's the latter !

I use this handle on several other adult sites as well. I came up with cuttin2dachase basically because when I go to adult sites with chatrooms and instant messaging to talk about sex and adult things, I'm not shy about cutting to the chase and approaching like-minded people to strike up conversations of a romantic and/or sexual nature. Out of respect that most women want to be treated like ladies unless/until they say otherwise, I'm not as overt, forward or direct with them as I am with other bi men or swinging couples.

Speaking of sci-fi references here's one many folks will guess: When someone enters the TARDIS for the first time after being told by _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ or one of his companions that it's bigger on the inside, they say "Wow! It really IS bigger on the inside!" Men, women and couples I meet for sex after using this handle to email and chat will often say to me "Wow, you really ARE cutting to the chase!" because I always tell them within 5 minutes that I am ready to get naked and begin play as soon as they are. J/K not always....sometimes we have a few drinks and I don't suggest it for at least an hour ! LOL

'la' is part of my legal name, and of course, to throw off NSA / gov't snooping, if they figure out it's me, the ' not me' should throw them off.

On more serious note, I use one device with this name and email which can not be traced to me. Since Thailand has 'lese majest' laws which carry 15 year prison term if you express any thoughts that may be considered offensive to Thailand or the monarchy, whether true or not.

Don't kid yourself the NSA and the Thai government both know exactly who you are.

Even if you have a throwaway device or email that you think can't be traced to you, it's all very easily traceable.

"Happy" because I am a happy-go-lucky kind of guy + "Hedonic" because I am a person with hedonist tendencies. Within the context of not causing suffering in others or myself, if it feels good...it's the right thing to do. I had this revelation back when I was bi-curious and I had sucked my first cock. Within the first second I felt his cock in my mouth I knew that this was right, this was good, and that I was truly bisexual. And that made me "Happy".

void()
Oct 5, 2014, 8:00 PM
The world is a void is a commonly accepted aspect of Zazen (Zen) & Taoist philosophy, world view. Not that I am of either belief camp in whole. They however would be the closest ideas/beliefs which I would ascribe to as choice of religion or spirituality. This was a portion of reasoning behind the moniker used here.

Another bit comes from programming with computer languages. Many of these create programs from a void() function. It is how the computer is signaled a batch of words is to represent instructions.

Still, a differing aspect is that the moniker provides a sense of being a generic person. I'm neither wholly light or dark, yet balanced and whole. The ancient Greeks aspired describing this a Chaos, a similar concept Eastern views called Tao. I am wrought of chaos but not order, nor remain do I chaos.
