I am a 17 year old boy, my prom was yesterday, I realized that I didn't want to finish high school as someone who lived in shame and was lying to everyone, so about two hours before the prom I posted on facebook telling everyone that I was bi, I thought that facebook would let me tell the most amount of people quickly. Within an hour, while my whole grade was busy getting ready for the prom I got 13 likes. Then what was even more amazing was the whole night at the prom more and more people came up to me and told me that I was really brave, and that I was an awesome person for being so open, and that they were really proud of me
I was really surprised by how well my grade accepted it, and it really made me feel great about my sexuality. I really regret that I didn't tell people earlier.
I wanted to share my story so that if anyone on this site is scared to come out, they can see that a lot of times we are met with great responses, and that coming out makes you feel so much better.

I think thats luvly and am glad people have been so nice and supportive. We all look at our little world and wonder what the reaction would be.
When I was 17 I did but growing up in "Little Victoriana", and listening to those around me talking about gays and lesbians there was no chance the kind of support you got would come my way. So it proved when I was outed at 19.
Time does change things and even peoples perceptions of us and things in just a few short years have become easier. I dont live down there any more, but people who once gave me stick and shunned me now do talk to me in the street. Even better there are a few gay and lesbian pupils from my high school who left after me who live openly within the community.
It wasn't my outing that changed things, although it may have contributed to it, rather it was schoolkids after me themselves, helped probably by a fair amount of new blood from other parts of the country, much braver than I ever was who said to the world "fuck you challenge me if you dare". And in just 6 years "Little Victoriana" hasn't exactly become Utopia, but at least it has moved a long way into the late 20th if not quite the early 21st century.
Congratulations and good on you for taking the bit between the teeth and being so brave.

I hate to burst your bubble kid, but this is a site for adults, you are not supposed to be here. Read the terms and conditions relevant to this site.

I was wondering about the OP's age situation, too.
In some countries, 16 is old enough to be considered an adult...even less, in some places, I heard.
In the USA, I think it's at least 18 in every state....I'm no authority.
How do you provide a cut-off age, if one is mature enough in one country, but not another?

The terms and conditions of each individual web site will specify the age restriction, in conjunction with any further legal restrictions that may be in place, depending on the State, Province or Country one lives in.
I believe, that as this web site is Canadian owned and based, that the age restriction is eighteen. I have no wish to see children on here putting themselves at risk of being groomed by phaedophiles.
As far as I'm aware, Drew has re-directed teenagers in the past to more age appropriate sites for advice. I have raised the matter with him and we shall no doubt see his response in due course.
I see the response was quicker than I thought it would be, the original poster Omsapo has been banned.
