Peter Falk uttered those words for many years as Lt. Colombo, he is dead at the age of 83.

Interesting bit of trivia, he was only 3 years old when he lost his eye to a malignant tumor. He wore a glass eye which gave Colombo that trademark squint. Living, well non now, proof that no matter what limitations life gives you they are only limitations if you let them limit you.

Rest in Peace.

AH I loved that man. Peter Falk as Colombo. I grew up watching that show and loving it. What a great job he did playing that role. No one will ever forget how he hounded the suspect relentlessly. Even if the story line didn't reveal who the murderer was in the opening of the show within 20 mins Columbo KNEW who it was and you did too because he was like flies on s#!* on that suspect. All he had to do was prove it.

I always remembered the little bit of trivia about his trademark raincoat. That it was his own personal coat.

<snippet from another site> In an interview with "TeleStar" magazine in February 1998, Falk tells the story: "In 1966..., I was walking on 57th Street in New York when it started to rain. I entered a shop and bought a raincoat. When I had to find one for Columbo, I simply took this one."

To this day, Peter Falk swears that the television script for Prescription: Murder specified a raincoat for the character. Columbo's creators, Levinson and Link, always maintained that Falk was mistaken, that in fact the script called for Columbo to wear an overcoat. The truth is forever lost in mythology.

Falk wore the same raincoat throughout the NBC run of "Columbo," but there were two or three "stand-in" coats. In March, 1974, one of these was auctioned off for one thousand dollars at an Easter Seal dinner in Bridgeport, Connecticut. <end snippet>

I wonder if he was buried in a similar raincoat? Rest in Peace Mr. Falk.

One of the funniest movies I ever saw was, "The Inlaws"

He was supposed to be a secret agent, but everyone thought he was the biggest liar on earth. It turns out that he was telling the truth!

If you liked Peter Falk, you'll like it.

Why does everyone remember Columbo When Falk made such wonderful films as "The Great Race" where he played the perfect sidekick (Maximillian Meen) to Jack Lemmon (Professor Fate) in their antoganosm to Tony Curtiss (The Great Leslie - Ting! - some will know what that means).

".. Number Five, the engine drops out..."

Best Custard pie fight ever

I enjoyed Peter in the "In-Laws" jesus pigs but I also thought he was funnier than hell in "The Great Race" push the button, Max. It's too bad his last few years were such turmoil. Rest in peace, Peter...
