I would like to get some input on how you all protect yourselves against stds.

I understand the whole anal sex condom thing, but am not sure about oral. What do you all do or think about protection while giving or receiving?

Do you wear protection if you receive oral?

Do you require your partner to wear protection if you are preforming?

What about rimming and hepatitis?

I read conflicting things like getting HIV from oral is very very rare, but possible etc....

So I thought I would get some input, thanks

I am a straight partner but work in a college and regularly have groups of students in sessions with the local sexual health workers. They say that even if having oral sex the reciever of the oral should wear a condom to protect from std's. Herpies as well as some other can be passed through oral sex. As for the rimming I can not help sorry.

Hope this has helped some

I've asked about this stuff at my local sexual health clinic.

Bacterial STIs can be passed by oral sex. HIV can theoretically be passed by oral too, but this has never been observed in the real world so health professionals considering the oral / HIV risk to be negligible.

Hepatitis A is definitely a risk with rimming (and possibly B). As are bacterial and parasitic infections. I posted this link recently http://www.toss-my-salad.com/safety.shtml

Does anyone do anything about hepatitis, like vaccinations?

Vaccinations are available for Hep A & B.

No vaccinations against intestinal parasites though.
