Last night from my hospital bed I watched something sublime and just had to come out of my self imposed exile for a short time just to let you know of my breathless exitement.

Those who know me know of my love for footie. Last night I watched Barcelona lift the Champions League with a brand of football I never dreamed could possibly exist and had to share this excitement with you all. I may be ill, but for a couple of hours last night I forgot all about myself for a little and marvelled at the most magical, entrancing 90 minutes of football anyone has ever seen.

The defeated team, Manchester United were totally swept aside but contributed to the spectacle and to their credit, unlike many teams who were being put to the sword did not clog down their opponents with brutality, but contributed to a wonderful hour and a half by trying to play and playing some good football themselves.

The heart and spirits were lifted last night by a couple of dozen supremely talented human beings and any who saw it, the memory will live in the mind for as long as they live. Last night football for all its problems was without question truly "the beautiful game".

If you didnt see it, do what you can to catch a recording. Even knowing who won wont spoil it. It was truly sublime.

Love to all.:)

Hey Fran!

Hope you're doing well and getting the help you need.

I'm not a sports fan. It just seems that the energy could be better used for building something! But I realize sports are many folks' passions.

One big issue I have with many sports, is the way some players are allowed to throw tantrums, fight, and are even encouraged to act like spoiled kids.... when they don't win, or get what they want.

The phrase "Good sportsmanship" is a term that seems to be out of vogue, in many events.

I hope that what you observed is a trend that will soon be more common.

We don't have football here in the states Fran, only that other game with the crazy ball that's half-lopsided and a bunch of guys that love to pass things between each other's legs, pile on top of each other and smack each other on the ASS..and I no I don't mean DONKEY (to see that sort of thing in public you have to go out of the country).

I am glad however to see that the game lifted your spirits! I don't usually watch lot of sport but I might've like to see that if YOU say it was good.

Please continue to get well!!

<big hugs>
