I keep disappearing from chat without saying bibi. I dont mean to be rude, but it is frustrating when my laptop closes down and it appears that I am being rude. It then takes some minutes to cool down enough for it to load up again.

The problem is not a contamination of the computer that is one thing I have found out, but apparently the machine can get too hot because of a fan issue. It only seems to happen in chat, on Skype, MSN or Yahoo, and while watching videos for a while on line. The laptop is only 2 years old and was fine until recently, so I think I may have to have a new fan installed.

Apologies to all.

All computers have a thermostatic switch that shuts the machine down when the processor gets too. Look around your machine for vent holes. They may be plugged with dust that can be removed with a small brush.

You can check out the following laptop chill mat, it's doing a great job cooling my 6 years old laptop and it's ultra quiet.

You often can't get the dust out of the critical place with a brush as the brush can't get to the cooling fins on the processor heat sink.

A careful application of canned or compressed air through the vents will do the trick, I've 'fixed' many laptops this way. If your laptop has flow thought vents hit it in both directions.

The cooling plates are great, but clean your vents too.
