I think that penguins are very social and they seem to like people from what I gather. When I was in the Coast Guard, I had service "friends" who had been assigned one of the sea going ice breakers the CG operates. These service mates talked about how when they would go out on the ice down in the Antarctic region--- very often the penguins would come up to them--the rule was---you could not make first contact with the penguins but if they came up and touched you then you could touch them. They said that quite often--the penguins came right up--would bump them and then they would go ahead and pet and scratch the creatures with the birds seeming to enjoy being touched--saying that a good number--but not always all penguins did like human contact--in some places though--the penguins wanted nothing to do with humans but in other places they sought people out--so I guess they do have their own personalities--I know that each and every one of the cats and dogs I have had over the years--they "were their own creature" and were or are---individuals. The two cats I have now--they could not be anymore different!!
