I hope all of our New York and New Jersey folks are all well and safe tonight....Granted, that's not a real big one, but it was enough to be felt at the top of the large sky-scraper that Ki was in this morning.
Jamie, and ya'll that are there, sound off and let us know you're ok..:}

Tuesday, November 30, 2010
By Annmarie Fertoli: Assistant Producer, WNYC/WQXR News, Sarah Kate Kramer

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake shook the New York City region earlier today.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that the tremor occurred in the Atlantic Ocean, about 80 miles off the coast of Southhampton on Long Island, around 10:45 Tuesday morning. The earthquake wasn't big enough to do any damage or hurt anyone, and the U.S. Coast guard said there is no threat of a tsunami. It was the biggest earthquake for our area in 18 years.

Didn't feel a thing.
But then again, I live in the Bronx. A long way from Long Island.
I did feel a Quake once when I spent a night in L.I. (about 20 years ago)

I found out about it Tuesday afternoon through the news media. Southampton is about 100 miles east of the city.

Where I am in the Wall Street area is a heavily-built office district built on solid bedrock- not any real earthquake risk.

Need to blame this one on Obama, and also the fact that the Muslims want to build a church / community center in Manhattan. :rolleyes:

Lets face it, even the land itself seems to be revolting against this idea!!! :eek:

But seriously now, I would really hate to be in such a place when a really major quake struck. Now don't say that a major quake cannot strike anywhere in this world, including Manhattan... You know that quakes are caused when huge areas of rock start settling and shifting around! If you did survive such an event, getting out of / and or off Manhattan Island would seem impossible! And then you would have to swim to get across to the mainland. Yep, that would be a rough one alright.

That's :2cents: Your friend, :doggie:
