There is something you must understand about the British.. they are a little schizophrenic about weights and measures. Especially my dad's generation and older, there has always been a lot of resistance to changing over to decimal measurements of currency, distance, weight or fluids. For instance we may have switched over to decimal currency, yet my dad will insist on referring to a 50p piece as a "ten bob bit", and continually converts currency of whatever amount into old money.
