A very dear friend from an online game came online to tell me she'd been at hospital all day with her infant. Ellie has suspected meningitis. They are doing lumbar puncture in the morning and have started her on antibiotics. Any prayers you all can toss towards England and Ellie will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Prayers and healing thoughts already sent, DD. It's always worrying, when a child is ill, but meningitis is something, which any parent dreads. I hope your friend's child will come through this OK.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friend. My baby brother had meningitis and he turned out well...that is not the norm, but luck was on his side.

I will, she was just exhausted. She had been up with her all night as well before realizing something was seriously wrong when temp spiked and she was having some seizures this morning. Her and her partner rushed her to hospital, the partner stayed with their baby and sent her home to get some sleep before tomorrow.
There is nothing worse than not just being able to kiss your child and make it better.
It appears they suspect bacterial meningitis and that's why they went ahead and started the antibiotics. Ellie is about six months old now.

How helpless you feel, especially when it's a baby who's ill.
I pray that all's well soon.

She contacted me today with "She had the Lumbar Puncture this morning. Found White Blood Cells but not loads. Waiting for further testing and results." So they are still waiting and waiting.

Nope, Heph. I think they live in Manchester.

Duckies, I am so sorry your friend's little one is going through this right now. It is a terrible thing to endure, and I hope she will be better soon. We see a great deal of this here in the hospital in Seattle.

.. thinking of babba:)
.. dont know which hospital in Manchester she is in, but one thing the NHS for all its problems is very good at is caring for critically ill children and even once, a long time ago saved the life of another babba, an act for which she is eternally grateful.. and Manchester has several of the best hospitals in the country..I don't know how things will turn out Darlin' darlin'.. but I do know she is in terrific hands...:)

The prayers must have helped, just heard from my friend. Ellie is out of the hospital and it wasn't meningitis. She's gonna be fine, no aftereffects from the high fever and convulsions. Thanks guys and gals
