NBC on The Advocate: Witness Decries Bi Teen Beating (http://advocate.com/nbc/?pid=EdGwA6JyxcoN0mKv_gCBWyuuNZEYDMKX)
My emotional visceral reaction to this, is mixed.
Obviously, saddened and disturbed that in 2010 that teenagers are STILL engaging in this behavior over someone's sexuality.
Silver lining, is that the woman that saw this injustice and violation did NOT keep her point of view to herself. She was able to speak with the young man, and empathized and spoke to the reporter (paraphrasing here) that no one should be treated this way.
I'm now wondering if these attacks are far more frequent than I'm aware of? Or is the media now more attentive in it's coverage of this - because of the increase of ratings & viewers tuning in?
I has a sad now :(

She pretty much nailed it at the end when she said, "that's just not right".

the victim stated he was not sure why they attacked him but he thought it was cos he was bisexual....
so its another bi bashing....... yet.... there is indications its a assault on a person..... without proof of reasoning for the assult...... and labeled bi bashing cos the victim was bi.......
if the victim doesn't know why they assaulted him.... how can it be a bi bashing......

Legitimate observation, given that the witness spoke on behalf of the victim.
But I think that is the crux of the issue in many instances. Quite a number of Bisexuals seek anonymity; however, in this instance/attack he was the central character in this sad story.
Confessing to the world something so personal, intimate and private...something that he perhaps has not shared with anyone prior (all of this is my presumption/projection obviously)...could have greatly impacted his decision to not even give an interview of the incident.
Often times situations like these, where the victim feels shame for being attacked, does not even respond or press charges because of the internalized fear; which allows the perpetrators to continue their hate, unfortunately.
As I said earlier, I don't know what actually took place...no one does. However, I wouldn't be surprised if that what I shared just now played a role into why the victim is as silent as he has been.

its very possible...... I tend to view it as lacking all the facts we can not really say...... yet even with all the facts, we form our own opinions........ ironically enuf.... its how the justice system works too...... even clear facts are useless if a lawyer can twist the juries thinking lol

It reminds me of Aesop's Fable of the Wolf and the Lamb. A lot of this kind of thing occurs as a means to an end. As the Wolf needed very little to allow him and excuse to eat the lamb, so too do these "Wolves" look for an excuse to do violence and justify it in their minds.
What do you think, LDD?

I would agree....... anything can be used to trigger a attack on a victim / target..... the * mob mentality *.....
it is possible they heard or believed the victim was bi / gay etc..... so attacked him..... and in counselling circles that is called the * black sheep * syndrome....
and in regards to aesops fable, the idea would be that the boy was viewing a attack on a black sheep as more * attention getting * than a attack on the rest of the flock which was white.....
I use the same principal with LGBT bashings..... the * black sheep * ( lgbt ) would garner more attention and reaction than a * white sheep * (hetero )
but to me as a Shepard.... ANY sheep being attacked is a sheep being attacked.... it needs to be stopped quickly..... or the wolves will never stop coming back and look for other black sheep or * weak / elder * white sheep as well......
the people that are decrying the attacks on the sheep, I tend to see as people that are quarding the town fences and shouting encouragement to the shepards that are heading out for the day and encouraging them to take more sheep with them........
