constance mcmillain move to be made (http://www.ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=6559&MediaType=1&Category=16)

something tells me that this is not a good move.........

movies like boys don't cry etc.... really highlight the issues that the LGBT can face..... things like the matthew shepard story are stories that shock and horrify us, as to what can happen......
..

apparently they want to do this on the bullying angle..... but the bullying that went on, doesn't compare to brandon teena and matthew sheppard.....

we have a lesbian female, with a underage partner wanting to go to the prom... school says no... she fights, prom gets cancelled, it goes to court, she fails in her bid to get it reinstated.... finally she goes to another prom, without her partner.... the students go to a private party....
constance gets a settlement from the school, money from a chat show, a internment, grand marshal at a lgbt parade and graduates from another high school.....

brandon and matthew... got buried......

while we can argue that it shows that fighting for your LGBT rights can work..... and that is a valid point.... it can also open up a huge can of worms if people are protrayed as doing something they never said or did ( the students )....

but abc want to do this... and so let them do it..... but at the bottom of the page on the link I posted.... is a comment by juin blaize..... remember them... the crossdressing student at the same school at the same time, run out of town, with his family... the same student that never got their day in court, never got any money, no internment.... the one that is forgotten by so many people.......
one of the many, many, many people that are bullied and mistreated.... and forgotten by society and the LGBT, cos we can not use them as a *trophy * in the fight for lgbt rights.... and nor have we buried them..... so we simply ignore them and forget them......

I have to agree with Juin. It isn't fair that Constance is the only story that is going to be told. They should do the movie is sequence from the first student run off, to Constance, let them all have a voice. Just because she got media attention from it doesn't make her the darling of LGBT groups everywhere. While I applaud her for fighting for her rights, she did do the right thing to an extent, I feel that focusing ONLY on her defeats the full purpose. There is NO WAY the students will be portrayed anywhere near nice. It was more than likely parents that were the biggest complainers about her situation, but the students will be the ones made out to be cruel, or even, dare I say it, bullies. I am sure she got bullied but it may not be near as bad as they are going to portray it.

Okay I had to do a google search on Juin to find out anything about him. Sounds like he got the wrong end of the deal yet they want to make a movie about someone that got money from Ellen, money from the school and an internship? Why cause she makes a good poster girl and Juin doesn't count cause he was only a crossdresser?

thats about the guts of it, aidan.........

and I am personally interested in all the * bullying that happened * as constance never mentioned any until after the prom had been held. ( well one prom, one party, constance went to a prom.... the other students went to a party )... tho its argued by a number of people that the private party was also a school prom....tho the school didn't organise it or run it, ...parents and students did.....

so I am interested to see what comes out and how much of the movie will be fact or have fictional events added for effect..... cos if the wrong people get labelled or shown as being responsible for something they never did..... all hell will break loose

the matthew sheppard and brandon teena stories were as real as possible, based on police reports, court transcripts and witness testimony....

A few simple thoughts.

First, the world ought to not care anything about the color of a person's skin. This holds true for sexuality also. Unfortunately we are not living in that world yet. Difference more often than not equates to loathing.

Second, I can agree that taking a stand against the injustice of discrimination is generally a good thing. Folks should battle such adversity for if one is oppressed, so all. But, I disagree with overly dramatic exploration of such private wars.

Third, everyone may voice an opinion on any subject. I realize opinions may be different, so too perceptions. Perhaps, what I perceive as "overly dramatic" may if fact not be, there are some mental and emotional foibles on this end. All of us have them and suggesting otherwise is true insanity.

Fourth, and coming to a nexus of my postings. We all should really strive for attaining True equilibrium, in my opinion. This means preferring to see things more objectively yet maintaining a subject eye all the same. Face it our world is perfect because it allows imperfection, chaos. Without these factors we would not have comparison, or change and by and large far less drama.

Ah, but there's the rub eh? We thrive on drama. Some of us at any rate. *sighs*

I earnestly feel there is a finely tuned point which eludes prowess of elucidation and articulation, just hanging there but yet ...

And I can not express it because words simply get in the way. Hopefully, someone may understand and be able to translate "Annabelle Lee" for others, in my stead.

I love you Void.... (blushes) I mean, that was beautifully written sir. I wish I were as eloquent an well thought out as your posts tend to be. I agree with you too. There is far too much drama in life and the world.

Thank you for the kindness. Merely gave consideration to what I felt and thought, then tried cobbling it into words. Good to know I'm still able.

Working amongst roughnecks causes me bouts of dullness. But a job does not define who I am, nor does the fact of being born on Venus. ;) :) Less drama there, folks drink Earth-shine.
