Just wanted to let you all know that our very own SWIMMY is safe and sound. The hurricane earlier this week in Canada. Hurricane Igor created havoc with flooding on Newfoundland where she lives. She and her family are safe and secure, have food and water but have not had any electricity since Tuesday. They are hoping to have it restored by the end of the weekend.

I received a text yesterday to say she ok and will be back on the site when the electricity is back.

I want to wish her well in the clean up, as I know all about hurricanes and flooding.

Your Toronto friend is safe as he is in Ontario(1000's km from Newfoundland). We (Ontario) were not impacted by Hurricane Igor. It didn't come to land as it passed the US and continued to build up to create the damage in Newfoundland. Fortunately, so far it is known that only one elderly man was killed when the waves collapsed the road that he was standing on and he was washed out to sea. Newfoundland has many remote areas and the power should be back by tomorrow as has just been reported. Food and water are needs as several roads to more remote areas were washed away.

"The military will deliver food, water, fuel and medical aid to some communities, and repair bridges and roads where needed, Mr. Harper said. Personnel will also remove downed power lines, deliver generators and provide medical evacuations if necessary, he added."

Tomorrow, a rain storm is forecast for the capital, St. John's. I'm not sure if that will have any impact of the situation.(rain storms happen a lot in Newfoundland)

Thanks Belle for letting us know she's okay, I was getting a bit worried when I didn't see her on and reading the news reports about Newfoundland.
