I think if we created a PayPal, Dolla or other micro finance tip jar we may have continual funding to sustain the site. At present though, the users would need to raise what the cost is of the site being sold, if the family chooses that.
Sorry if presenting the obvious is painful. Not sure we can have the site as user owned. I think, though it would be a very good idea. We could as users vote for a council of the site. We could also elect moderators, fixers and so on as needed.
