Some say that it has to do with what leg you put in your pants first and if you are right handed you tend to put your left leg in first. Therefore a tendency to hang to the left.

Some refer to which testicle hangs lower that is the direction you hang. (I thought all guys' testicle have the left lower...apparently not?
