The yellow message box stretches out the messages to one letter per line. Take a look at my latest messages for example.
I took the liberty of peaking at your private messages and I see what you mean. That happens when each of you quote the previous message and it goes back and forth dozens of times between the two of you. You just need to purge them with the next reply and start fresh. Just delete everything within the "quote" tags.
