The Conservative – Teapublican War On Women continues - Abortion

    Item #1
'Legitimate rape' rarely leads to pregnancy, claims US Senate candidate” - Todd Akin, a member of the House of Representatives and recently appointed Senate nominee for Missouri, made the claim during an interview in which he attempted to explain his no-exceptions policy in regards to abortion. - http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012...?newsfeed=true

    Item #2
No exceptions for rape in GOP's anti-abortion platform - The Republican Party’s platform committee approved anti-abortion language Tuesday without adding exceptions for rape — a suddenly hot issue after weekend comments by GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin in Missouri. - http://www.latimes.com/news/politics...,2726542.story

    Item #3
Akin rape theory rooted in Nazi death camp experiments - This reasoning, based on 1972 article by a University of Minnesota Medical School assistant professor, has been used for decades by anti-abortion activists to argue that no exceptions to abortion bans are necessary, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

In the article titled “The Indications for Induced Abortion: A Physician’s Perspective,” Dr. Fred Mecklenburg concluded that it “is extremely rare” for a rape to result in pregnancy….
…. To support his conclusion, Mecklenburg cited studies that were allegedly done at extermination camps in Nazi Germany…. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/08/2...p-experiments/

    Item #4
Granholm: Republicans are against Todd Akin in name, but solidly behind his ideas - “Congressman Todd Akin has got to be scratching his head at the recent turn of events,” Jennifer Granholm says. “Why are the Republicans so breathlessly chasing him from the field when they all – and especially Paul Ryan – have advocated essentially the same thing?”

On the heels of Republican putting a no rape exception to abortion in their party platform today Granholm digs into the politics underlying the GOP’s extreme stance on a woman’s right to choose. And even more puzzling, why Akin is being shunned from the party while Romney’s vice presidential pick Paul Ryan gets to stay right where he is. The answer might be more simple than you think. - http://current.com/shows/the-war-roo...hind-his-ideas

Do not think so little of me as to grant me your tolerance. Allow me your acceptance and understanding of who and what I am with the love, respect and dignity with which I do you.

There is a reason I have always been a Democrat and the above linked stories are a huge part of the rejection of idiocy that runs rampant among a lot of the ELECTED Republicans (please note before you try to tar and feather me, I said ELECTED not YOU) Enjoy some nice ecards I ran across

I'm waiting for legislation that puts Homeland Security (read SS) in charge of authorizing 'legitimate' rape. Hopefully, I'll not get black bagged for this comment.

There's a story somewhat as heartbreaking. Just a month or so ago - a 10 year old was raped and impregnated by her Uncle. A Doctor was initiating all the test and whatnot to go ahead and go through an abortion for the 10 year old - people actually rallied against this doctor to get her license revoked so she couldn't perform the abortion.

I was up late at night trying to contemplate how mentally/psychologically fucked that 10 year old is for life, and she no doubt will suffer more in the long run compared to the Uncle rapist.
