CSREEF - why don't you exercise some intelligence and not assume the person giving advice doesn't know what they're talking about?
Retired paramedic & emergency room tech here. ER would do no more than that. He can safely do it at home without a ridiculous bill and humiliation. The object is small, spherical, smooth; he will safely pass it.

that will never be an option. Not only would the embarrassment be insanely huge, I'd also have to get a hand up my ass, and I'd most likely be in pain for days after.

this was the first and last time I'll use something that doesn't have a viable means of retrieval.
