These are some recent photos I took---I have rented a space in this great old factory space here in my hometown--I have had spaces in this place before--but had to share them or whatever-but this time--I am in a great space--alone--and plan to use the space for not only creating some art----and that production of "art" is going to take several forms--including doing paintings, starting to do some metal work utilizing welders, doing some furniture restoration and adding various paint and other effects, and hopefully---set up part of the space for photography.

I have this great space that has lots of natural light thanks to a number of windows--with two big ones that face due west-and from them-I can see the office towers in the central part of the city.

These photos were taken one recent afternoon---I am doing some work on the place-like painting it--all the walls were painted a pale blue and while an okay color--it was just too much blue!!

Here are the photos---hope most of ya like the respite they provide from the site's usual topics like "do ya like cum or pussy juice best?"

It is a fairly well urbanized area--fairly well run down in that part of town---there are many vacant buidlings--buildings that at one time housed all sorts of businesses, from large factories, machine shops, and offices--it is sorta sad to see---but I guess that is just a fact of life in a "rust bucket" city like the one I live---our industrial glory days are long gone.

It is actually a rather safe area--there is not much around to attract "bad sorts"---everything is gone so there isn't much to "ripoff" around there any longer.

I actually like the "down and out" grittiness of the area around this old factory---they had made things like legal blanks and printed legal documents--it took a huge sprawling factory like this place to do what we now spit out in seconds with a computer and a desk top printer. It is cool to wander the various parts of the main building and the annex buildings---and to see what sort of businesses, artists and others are fellow occupants in the building

Loved those photos, Volty.

I had a GF, years ago, who lived in an old metal fabrication factory office; the building was huge. Her apartment was cheap and bigger than some houses: she could park her car in the shop. The executive bathroom was her bathroom, urinals and all. She was the only occupant for some time.

She said it was unnerving at first, because noises carried and were magnified by the large, open, expanse of the shop; it would have made a good auditorium, because of the way sound carried. Odd noises permeated the place; she swore that at night she could hear machinery running, people talking and little clinks, clatters, and things being moved. Some little birds, maybe wrens, and sparrows chirping at the far side of the shop, sounded like one was sitting on your shoulder. It was a cool place.

Some little birds, maybe wrens, and sparrows chirping at the far side of the shop, sounded like one was sitting on your shoulder. It was a cool place.

This place is sorta like that too--some people do live there--one of the cool things-I am on the third floor of the building---most of the time I walk up the stairs---but when I am bringing things up---I take the elevator--the elevators in the place are those ancient style frieght elevators that are kind of quirky to operate and all--they have those wooden gates that drop down and its open on two sides because on the bottom floor you enter and exit on one side and on the second and third floors--you do so from the other.

To make it what it is now--they have made the place a maze of passageways and such---and it is cool to go into people's individual spaces to see what they are like--no two are at all alike.

There is one area of the place that now that I know what is going on there-I do steer clear of----a railroad line borders one side of the property and there is one semi disintegrating building that is close to the tracks---one day while checking this place-I went down there and looked inside that building---it is full of broken bottles, cans and other trash--there was also a collection of old beat up couches and such----around them--lots of discarded beer, cheap wine and booze bottles and tons of used hypodermic needles around that area---on that occassion--I didn't see anyone in there--but on another day---I saw a few couches had some crashed out people in them--so--I don't go down there anymore---guess it is more or less--a "shooting gallery" or at least a place that some homeless people hole up at. One of the guys who maintains the place says that there is a sorta unwritten rule--the junkies and homeless hang down there around that building but they don't come up to the main cluster of buildings to bug the paying tenants--lest they start having the cops roust them--and we tenants of the building don't go down around where those folks hang out.

Something I forgot to add about a few of the photos---the red brick wall you see-that is the outside of my space---there is this access door that goes out to the roof---they did let us go out there--but some dude went and sat out there--digging his feet into the rubber roofing material-and it did some significant damage---and if anyone knows the cost of doing work on industrial roofs---the price tag for repairing that was pretty damn high---so they are now restricting access to the roof---all I did was just hang out the door and took the photo of my outside wall.

Thanks Marie---I am going to be moving some furniture into the part of the place soon--so I have a place for a bit of socializing--I do intend once I am up and running to hold some private showings of my work--both art and photos--and also via the contacts I have made on MySpace with other area artists--many of which don't have their own displaying spaces--to have them show their work along with mine, hopefully charging them no more than say $50 to help defray the cost of printing up invitation cards, flyers, and having some refreshments like soda pop, wine, cheese and crackers.

When I get the place more set up and all--I will take some more photos and post them up at some point in the future.

Very nice photographs. I have seen your work before and it is very good. I must agree with Smashley, the close up of the red brick building is very good indeed. Keep at it, you can only get better and better.

I've got the studio space mostly finished now---I have almost made it too nice now though!! While it looks pretty full of stuff---I still have plenty of room to do my work---now I need to start restocking my inventory of art supplies--I have not purchased many paints in the last few years--and holy cow--just like in other areas like HDTV and Digital cameras, technology has sure made some major leaps---there are some entirely new paint "platforms" as one of the officials of Golden (Artist grade) Acrylic Paints said in the introduction of several new product lines---so there are more choices than ever to try to decide what to pick and work with most--and then if I buy them----I have to learn how to work with them--but that is part of the fun of it.

Well--I have my "art space" all set up--and it is good I have my music (via a kick ass stereo system at 100 watts per channel, digital surround sound---my Bose speakers cannot handle anywhere near full power!!!), my books on a variety of topics, with the good vibes I hope I am creating in the space to help motivate and inspire me to be creative---if I am not around as much on the site this winter--you will know where I will be!!
