So...as a surprise for me, Keith has booked us tickets to go to Miami in June. I was just wondering if there is anyone who has been, or lives in the area, that could tell me some things to check out....and also....things/places to avoid!!! Thanks guys!!

I live in the area, but not too much of a nightclub type- - since you're into swinging, you can always check out Miami Velvet or Trapeze. I don't know much about Trapeze, but MV has an out of towners discount, and it's BYOB. I've been there, it's super nice, with a hot tub and playrooms.

Hmmm, what else is there? There's SoBe which is okay, but can be pretty pricey.

I'll do more looking and asking around.

I've not been there, but on BiCafe, they list Bi Night at Miami Velvet. If you go, give us a review, as I might be interested in checking it out sometime...

I lived in Miami at one time and haven't been back much since I left--I can tell you where not to go--Overtown and Libery City---unless you are riding in a armored vehicle--at one time it was kind of like going into Baghdad after the riots back in the 80s.

For some cool partying places--South Miami Beach, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, Key Biscayne all have some very hot clubs with South Beach being the center of the hot club universe.

Go see Fairchild Tropical Gardens--lovely place, go down to South Dade on US 1 and find the Coral Castle--it is an interesting place with a very interesting story that you will learn about. MetroZoo and the Miami Serpentarium are both worth a peek-the man who runs the Serpentarium is well into his seventies now and has been bitten by just about every veneomous snake there is. As a visitor--you won't be near enough to take a bite but the staff does put on informational programs about the different species of snakes they keep there.

Sit out on the park area on McArthur Causeway, the roadway that leads from downtown Miami out to Miami Beach and watch the Chalk seaplanes taking off and landing in Government Cut with the cruise ships in the backgroound--a definite Miami exclusive sight that harkens back to the days when the first commericial passenger planes were nearly almost exclusively seaplanes and flying boats.

There are some great shopping places--Bayside is right on the water on Biscayne Blvd downtown---Bar Harbour up in the north has some awesome shops and I guess The Falls in Kendall is still there--they used to have a Neiman-Marcus there--I don't know how it is now. That whole area got bulldozed by Andrew--I was last there after Andrew and much of that mall was wiped out and at the time--it had not been redone but was slated to have been.

To experience Cuban culture, go to Calle Ocho in the heart of Little Havanna--go to the Versailles Restaurant and order some black beans and rice or other Cuban dishes like fried plantains--and order some Cuban Cafe Leche--also just walk around when done--check out some of the more interesting shops and pay attention to the little parks where men (mostly old ones) sit under little structures that provide shade, drink Cafe Cubano, smoke big cigars and play dominoes---

If you want to get a little different flavor--get in your car and head on south down US 1 and head into the Keys--Key West itself is a bit far for much of a day trip, but you can still get the tropical vibe that is found in the Keys--find a good seafood restaurant--get some conch chowder, some fried shrimp or oysters or whatever the restaurant is featuring in terms of seafood and save room for a piece of Key Lime Pie---

Damn--I need to get back down there!!!!

I still have my membership card... the time I went, it was dead, though.

Miami Velvet isn't too bad, but Bi Night is only on Sunday and since I have to be up for work in the mornings, it doesn't work out for us because the doors don't open til 9pm. After a night of erotic debauchery with my wife and I enjoying some hard cocks, it is too far to drive home to North Lauderdale for me to get up at 6:30 am.

Shame, too because it is a nice place and after about 10:30 or so, the place really gets jumping.

key biscayne, miami beach, south beach, all worth seeing.

if you have time to take an overnight driving trip, head down to key west.

Not sure what you are looking for, but I live in Ft. Lauderdale and can tell you about some of the activities in the South Florida area.

I would recommend the nude beach at Haulover to almost anyone vacationing. It is very low pressure and relaxing. If you don't want to get naked you don't have to as long as you are not leering.

If you like to dance and shop you should check out South Beach, they have a part of the beach that is partial nude there also. They have some great places to dine and people watch also, but the parking can be annoying.

If you like dancing and fetish. Alter-ego has a monthly Fetish Ball, right now it is at a club called Club-Xit. We have been to a few of these, they are like a year round halloween party. Some of the costumes are outrageous or non-existant. There is some light spanking and bondage going on, but there is no pressure to participate. They also have a "wilder" after party that is a seperate event. Not sure what that is like though.

If you are looking to meet and chat with other bisexuals you should check out the South Florida Bisexual Community at the Ft. Lauderdale GLCC. Some great friendly people there.

The bi night at Miami Velvet was lame the 2 bi nights we checked it out. So I don't recommened it. I have heard there other nights are much busier if you are looking for that sort of fun. Don't know much about that either.

If you are looking for a bargain, check out the Dolphin Mall in Miami or the Sawgrass Mills Mall in plantation. The Sawgrass Mills mall is particularly huge.

If you like to gamble I suggest you check out the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. They also have a nice spa area.

-or- a casino closer to Miami is the Miccosukke Tribe Casino, but its not quite as nice.

Another option for gambling and relaxation is the Sea Escape cruise line. They offer very reasonable night cruises and also a decent day trip to the bahamas and back. it is a long day though.

There are plenty of great places to eat in Miami, but I can't recommened this Italian restaurant enough. Nice authentice Italian atmosphere and staff, awesome food.
