Similar to the other ongoing thread on getting caught but I didn't want to clutter it up with slightly different subject:
I'm sure many of us enjoyed sneaking a peak at "dirty" magazines as kids. I know I did, and I got caught once.
Back in 6th or 7th grade a friend and I were fooling around in the bedroom my brother and I shared. He wasn't around so we started going through his drawers. Lo and behold, my squeeky clean brother had some "dirty" magazines hidden at the bottom of one of the drawers.
They weren't really dirty in today's sense as they were just photos of people at a nudist colony. Two or three magazines of adult men and women walking around naked. Not a boner to be seen in any of the pictures, but that was still dirty back in the 60s...I guess.
So we took basically stole the magazines and I hid them in one of my drawers. After all, what's my brother gonna say?
Turns out our cleaning lady found them in my drawer somehow and took them to my mother. She was a single mom so she had my friend Mark's father give us a talking to. We were scared when we went to see him wondering what he'd do to us.
So Mr. Sanchez is real nice and, to paraphrase what he said, goes "It's ok if you want to read things like Playboy, but this stuff here is pure filth!". We acted all ashamed, said we wouldn't do it again and that was that.
Years later I realized the irony of that. I used to read my cousin's Playboy magazines out in the open at an even earlier age when we were staying at my uncle's house. Playboy- a sexually oriented magazine- and that was ok. But get a magazine with a bunch of naked people just walking and laying around- no sexual content at all- and that was filth. Funny how that works.
